This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for 2010 entry.
This is my second application for admission since I wasn't offered admission for Fall 2009. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Spring 2010? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I also applied to Samuel Merritt in the Bay Area (also turned down twice to 2 programs for Fall 2009 entry). They wont be sending out admission offers until February for March start dates!! Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls )
Good luck to all you!!
Betsy
What were everyone's science grades who were accepted if you don't mind sharing.
I have B's in Anatomy and Chemistry, and A's in Physiology and Microbio (both Physio and Microbio were still in progress at the time I applied/interviewed). I honestly didn't think my grades were very competitive, but when I mentioned in my interview that I was planning on retaking some of my science classes for a better grade, she told me not to bc my grades were just fine. I think what made my application more competitive was that I have a lot of experience in the health field professionally and volunteered at Cedars and the UCLA Care Extenders Program for many years too.
Hey, I heard they were pretty competitive. At the nursing info session I remember that they mentioned three hospitals that offer the scholarship, Northridge, Kaiser and I can't remember the third one. I was looking older posts on this site and someone said that we aren't eligible to apply until our second semester. Also at my info session someone gave me two websites to check out for scholarships. They are fastweb.com and scholarships.com. I haven't checked into either one because I was waiting to see what happened.
Thanks for the info! I really hope I get one of those scholarships because our tuition is EXPENSIVE!
Anyone sent in their deposit yet? Sending mine in tomorrow. :)
Have you already filled out the FAFSA? Gonna get mine done on Friday (I have finals this week!) When is your meeting? Let us know what they tell you because I'm curious about what financial aid tips they have for us. I think that you can get up to about 20K in Stafford loans (subs and unsubsidized) if you qualify and then have to go through private loans for the rest. We used to be worried about getting into school, now we have to worry about we pay for it. :)
