This is a new thread for anyone applying to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles. Please feel free to share, and discuss your application process with us.
There is also lots of information available through previous MSMC threads!
Good luck to everyone!
Whew! Mine was just updated today and my application is officially complete. Best of luck to all of us. I caught up on the last few threads. In case you are still interested, I am 30, so I guess I'm on the older end on this board! Also, someone mentioned the Doheny campus. I actually attended the Mount as a Weekend College student. I was able to be on both the Chalon campus (which is AMAZING) and then we were later transferred to the Doheny campus. I really loved the campus. So if we all get in, I'm sure you will be extremely happy there!
try 43:D how did you feel about the instructors etc there..I feel the school is very personable. It seems friendly from the staff that I have encountered.. wondered how a former student feels.
Hi guys! I volunteer at a hospital and one of the nurses is a graduate of MSMC's AccBSN program. She really liked the program and was able to work right after. She didn't go for the loan forgiveness programs. She said that her year was the last for the previous Coordinator and the new ones are a bit unorganized from what she heard. She still recommends the program even though she warns that it is VERY intense and to not expect a life outside of school.
She also did mention that during her year, the passing NCLEX rate was in the 90s. I told her it's dropped since then and she was pretty surprised. She did, however, say that as long as you study and apply yourself, you should be fine for the NCLEX.
Yay, my application is complete too!
In regards to the NCLEX passing rates, just curious -- Does MSMC provide a separate score for their AccBSN program, as opposed to their overall BSN score? The Board of Registered Nurses records a BSN passing rate of 76.64% for '07/'08 (http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/passrates.shtml), but I don't know if that's an accurate reflection of the accelerated program.

ocal,
I didn't go to an info session and they interviewed me over the phone since I am in northern ca. I didn't look at the school till after I was accepeted for this May.I think they really look at the overal picture of the person not just grades. They are very down to earth. I am worried now because of the scholarships I just found out that actually 17 people got one last year.. Now that could mean that only 17 applied but looking at the class years post before my class it appeared as if 15 applied to Kaiser and 3 got in. I love the school but that does give me some concern.. whatever you do don't give up. I couldn't get into any state schools but have been accepted into 3 private ABSN and am on the alt list for a free school out of state...
