Published

Good Morning all nurses.com!!!

Anyone know anything about the Mt Sinai in NYC pharm exam??? Was it hard? I hear you take it in your third day of orientation.

Also how was YOUR orientation experience like there??

Any advice for a newbie at Mt Sinai?

Thank you all!!! Greatly appreciated!

Hi Froggy- congrats on getting a job at MSMC - & welcome :) The pharm exam was difficult but as long as you really study using the study guide they give/gave you, you will be fine. The orientation leaders are really nice and will help you with anything!

I had a great orientation experience! I was a new grad and not only was my preceptor amazing, but everyone on the unit was as well. Everyone at mount Sinai, for that matter, is awesome. The NPs and MDs really love new grads and are always willing to help and explain things if needed. I've been off orientation for a few months and it is absolutely still the same way. You are going to have a great experience!

I have not started yet... still SOO much to do/plan... YOU, don't give up!

Thank you NYROYAL for the comment! I guess I should be starting to study now haha...

By the way, do you know how long it is before we can take a vaca day or two?? How stringent was the orientation scheduling after the classes? at my old place, it wasn't too stringent and you could make your own schedule just as long as it was feasible (during orientation) because in a way you were "extra" (that doesn't sound too nice but it was kind of true... know what I mean?) I'm asking because I'd love to plan a family vacation soon...

Thanks!!

For vacation, after 3 month orientation you get the equivalent of 11 days and then after 6 months you get another set. Total of 22. You can request your vacation days but unfortunately, at least on my unit, a lot of extended periods are already taken by everyone else!

When you're still with a preceptor it's super easy to make your own schedule, so I'd give it a shot!!!!!!

Thanks!!! So we decided to go already and I just started here... It's so overwhelming!!

Hello all ! I have a question about Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC orientation process, I've heard during orientation there are 2 tests given, 1 is a pharm test and 2 is something like critical care test. Anyone please can give some more info how difficult the tests are?
