Mount Saint Mary's University, ADN Fall 2019

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, just wanted to start a thread for those of us that applied for Mount's Fall ADN program. The application deadline is coming up next week (4/01/19) and just wanted to keep in touch with everyone that applied for this Fall.

Good luck everyone!

I am an actual student, I speak from experience. I know of quite a few schools that won't make their student repeat anything. But I agree with you we all have to hang in there in these though times! I hope they don't make you repeat anything !!

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’m also a current nursing student at a different program, that is thankfully continuing for the remainder of the semester because it’s LACCD. And I know someone whose a current student at MSMU and could quite possibly be one of your classmate. We both share thoughts with the pros and cons of what we are both experiencing in each of our program. And just to clarify, only a couple of programs have delayed students. My friend goes to one of them and I feel bad for them and wish it was different.

Get Uworld. Better rationales and questions, plus very similar to the NCLEX in my opinion. Also, I'm a mount grad that graduated the year of the terrible NCLEX scores. I can confirm many people in my graduating class did not take it serious and did not study before taking NCLEX the first time around.

Thanks, I’ll probably purchase it, it seems so concise and seeing a lot of success stories, thanks for letting me know!!

So they just cancelled MSMU classes and clinicals until fall 2020, graduation delayed and if we get back in fall we have to repeat the class we were in now. I wonder if any other nursing schools are doing this

OMG that sucks, sorry to hear that :(

I think the part of repeating a course is the worst, I'm at National and we're still moving on. The school broke the courses that require a clinical and moved them towards the end of the program so we're taking the theory part first and doing clinicals at a later time.

That makes sense, I'm going to ask them why they didn't do that

My goodness that’s real unfortunate. I’m sorry to hear. I think purple_010 spoke to soon about knowing programs that won’t make students repeat. I honestly didn’t think it would happen to MSMU. I go to one of the LACCD programs and we just had remote class this morning and the instructor didn’t mention anything to us about postponing the semester yet. I’m hoping we can continue but we’ll see.

they are not making seniors repeat the semester, they qualified for what the BRN was asking for. everyone else will have to. It's so sad.

Yea I don’t understand why MSMU didn’t opt to make us do theory online and clinical at a later date

That’s good news for Seniors. It’s definitely frustrating for all others.

That’s what my school said, that theory and clinical has to be taught concurrently per BRN, so either they’re lying or other schools who aren’t doing that are not heeding to this

We as students had virtual meeting with MSMU admin yesterday and they just talked down on us and were defensive. They said they didn't care about what other schools are doing, and said that they are cancelling classes until Fall "because we care for your safety", and had the nerve to say that the school is losing money as well. Also said they don't know how other schools are doing classes and clinicals at different dates because CA BRN doesn't allow that, I think they just don't want us to graduate on time because their NCLEX scores are so low, they don't want to risk it, and money as well, but they tell us it's for our safety, so ashamed of this school.
