Mount Saint Mary's University (ABSN Summer 2018)

Published

Hello Everyone,

I have recently applied for the MSMU's Summer 2018 ABSN Program at the Doheny Campus, and I would be delighted to know if anyone else applied!

I am scheduled to take the Math Exam on the 16th of December!

I thought this thread would be a great way to keep each other updated throughout the process. Anyone is more than welcome to share on this post--whether it'd be about the application process, experiences, and future goals!

With that in mind, I sincerely wish you all the best of luck!

I didnt receive a letter...but I did receive something from their IT desk on how to login to portal and it says there that I'm accepted. Did anyone else receive an official letter? I'm confused on how to make the deposit.

I haven't gotten a letter in the mail either! But I did get that same email, congratulations! We're in yay :D can't wait to meet everyone

Did you figure it out? I was able to log in, but I have a zero balance under the make a payment section. Does anyone know when the deposit is due for the second round of interview people?

Hi all! New to this. But I was in the second round of interviews and have also received the same email from their IT desk. I called and confirmed that I was accepted! Also asked about making a deposit online since it kept saying "no balance to pay". The lady I spoke with says to pay over the phone as she's working to figure out why it says that, and the newly accepted people have till March 12 to pay! She said we should have received an email Thursday night, but I didn't get anything.. hasn't responded to my email yet since it is now the weekend. But I hope this info helps anyone out!

Congrats to everyone who got accepted!

I am kind of concerned about the nclex pass rates for this school. When I asked about the specific pass rate for absn and NOT tbsn, I was given the same response on two occasions that (as we all know) the two programs are grouped together and absn always does higher than tbsn.

Do any graduates of msmu have any more info on what the actual pass rate is? 78% is low compared to other schools. I just wonder what the students (who have not passed the nclex on the first time ) feel the problem is. Ie: the program is too fast paced and not enough preparation for licensure or if it truly is a problem with the individual like they say.

Thank you!

I have had the same concerns....

Well I asked for the info through email and will let you guys know if they respond

We will do just fine, we just have to help each other out and get the best out of it.

Hey guys,

I spoke to someone who is currently in the program and he told me how it is crazy intense but doable. Everyone helps each other out and they have tutors. The best part is that it's only one year. He also told me that there are about 27ish people and 3 have dropped out. You just can't socialize or work. It'll all be worth it in the end.

Hi all,

I am currently in the ABSN program, I graduate in May. Congratulations on your acceptance!

I was concerned with the pass rate when I applied as well but the school has made a lot of adjustments in order to get you a lot of practice with NCLEX style questions. Last we heard the ABSN pass rate was about 85%. I know this is lower than I would like, but I know that I will be doing NCLEX prep myself prior to taking the exam on top of what they provide.

The program is tough and fast paced but if you are organized and dedicated you can do it. Each cohort passes down a lot of information to help the next. My cohort started with 26 people and have 19 from the original class, so it is not something to take lightly. Each rotation is 8 weeks so you do not have time to get behind. The first semester is the hardest because you are trying to get into a pattern of everything but each rotation has its difficult moments.

If you have any questions just ask :)

Has anyone started a Facebook page for our cohort?

The other cohort started a groupme app messenger, maybe we can try that for our cohort or whichever is better.
