Mount Saint Mary's University (ABSN Summer 2018)

Published

Hello Everyone,

I have recently applied for the MSMU's Summer 2018 ABSN Program at the Doheny Campus, and I would be delighted to know if anyone else applied!

I am scheduled to take the Math Exam on the 16th of December!

I thought this thread would be a great way to keep each other updated throughout the process. Anyone is more than welcome to share on this post--whether it'd be about the application process, experiences, and future goals!

With that in mind, I sincerely wish you all the best of luck!

Hi! I will be commuting from SFV as well. Hope we can link up soon to set this up because like you, I'd be dead too.

Where did everyone take their religion prereq for the program? I'm having a difficult time locating 6 units of approved religion classes..

I took my religious studies class at Santa Monica College, however, you only need 3 units for religious studies. You need 6 units of Philosophy, also took at SMC (Philosophy 1 & 2).

BIBLE LIT New Testament is accepted by MSMU. The class is called REL ST 52.

****you can replace the other RS class with one Philosophy class, which is what I did and I got accepted into the program.

Hope that helps.

Hello everyone! Just finished finals and the first week of the 2nd half of the 2nd semester so haven't had a chance to be on here as much. Just a couple things I wanted to get across as you guys get ready.

The first is a message I sent to someone who PM'd me that some of you may find useful:

In terms of the program schedule, it will usually consist of two days of lecture (either MW, MT, TTH, etc.) and two days of clinical (Varies). The pace is intense, that's no joke. Each 15 week semester is divided into 2 "mini" 7 week semesters, which definitely becomes increasingly difficult, especially the second 15 week semester. But it's doable!! Clinical sites will vary and are randomly assigned, but some locations that students have been to include UCLA RR, UCLA SM, Cedars-Sinai, Northridge, and USC to name a few. We have students with children in the program, and they are managing just fine. The program is a challenge for everyone, but to really allow yourselves a breather you guys will certainly rely on one another to succeed. Setting up collaborative google docs has been a lifesaver these past two semesters, and will certainly become more beneficial as the semesters progress. If this can be done, balancing shouldn't be an issue. They really emphasize self care in this program as well, so try to incorporate it as much as possible!

In terms of commuting, I drive from the Santa Clarita area, but leave around 0430 to beat traffic and study early at school. So it's definitely doable as well if you drive far.

I also wanted to reach out to those who are seeking textbooks once you get your list. Going to be selling mine for cheaper than what amazon sells/rents theirs for, so please feel free to reach out to my email [email protected] and we can exchange/talk about your upcoming semester at school.

Thank you! And congrats again!

Hi! I was accepted into the Fall 2018 cohort, and to be honest, I'm terrified and excited. How did your first semester go? Any tips for the first semester?

Hi everyone. For those of you who were accepted, would you mind posting your stats please? Thank you
