  1. Good for you for thinking about this now. I have a B.S. in Public Health Sciences and it took me 5 years to decide on what I wanted to do next. Once I finally figured out that I wanted to do nursing, I had but no choice to take my pre-reqs at a community college and in retrospect, I am glad I didn't have a choice because it was much cheaper to do so at a community college! Plus, I was working full time already so the community college had evening classes, which catered to my schedule. I took 2 classes each semester and I was able to finish my prereqs within a year. I was even crazy enough to take Human Physio + Lab and Microbiology + Lab simultaneously in one semester. I got an A in physio and B in micro. I was accepted into my ABSN program after the 2nd time I applied. I was told I was not accepted my first round because I had no experience so I started a nursing volunteer program at the hospital. I had two rotations under my belt when I was accepted the following Cohort. I will be starting my program in May and if all goes well, I'll graduate May 2019 with a BSN. Yep, that's a 12-month ABSN program with no breaks! So in conclusion, the following is what I suggest: take the prereqs at a community college. Apply to that community college now so you can get a registration date. More than likely, you'll be stuck with a late registration since you're a new student. Find a volunteer program you can start or shadow a nurse and clock in those hours of bedside experience. This will definitely give you some valuable insight on whether or not you want to do nursing... furthermore, invest your time and money in an ABSN program.
  2. If any of you are interested in purchasing a minimally used Mometrix and ATI Study Manual for the TEAS 6th edition, please email me at [email protected]. I got accepted into a nursing program that does not require the TEAS, which is why the study manuals are minimally used. I can ship at no additional cost to help a student in need! Good luck to all those studying and applying to schools!
  3. Hi! I will be commuting from SFV as well. Hope we can link up soon to set this up because like you, I'd be dead too.
  4. RNby2019! Thank you for compiling that! I am anxious, too... I keep looking at the MSMU admit website searching for updates and still frantically looking out for an email with further details about the upcoming schedule. I rather know sooner than later to have ample time to plan ahead. I spoke to the Admissions department and they notified me that we should expect an email at the end of March, which is so far away, but is understandable since the second wave of acceptances should have their deposits in by then. It definitely puts everything into perspective because I was thinking that's such a short list... but the reality of the matter is that it will be a short list with it being a one year accelerated program. I look forward to working with you! Again, thank you for compiling that
  5. Hi FutureNurse.2017! Yes, congrats on almost graduating! I'm sure it's super exciting. How soon do those graduating plan on taking the NCLEX? How prepared do you feel right now to take it/pass it? AND thank you so much for chiming in! I was asked about adversity during my interview and I now know why with you two cents. I hope that the Summer 2018 Cohort agrees on group me or google messenger because I do not have a Facebook. I deactivated my FB almost a decade ago. Hope everyone is on board by now && hoping to hear from the rest of those accepted and planning on Summer 2018 Cohort soon :)
  6. Hi! Unfortunately I do no have the access to sent private messages yet. What's your email and I'll shoot you one :)
  7. Hello, for the interview - I was interviewed with a panel of two interviewers who are instructors and there were two applicants simultaneously being interviewed by them. So it was me and another applicant. We took turns answering the same question. Then onto the next question. I believe I was in the room for at least 30 minutes. I recall them asking: what made me choose nursing now, what challenging situation have I experienced that I overcame. Hope this helps! Good luck!!
  8. Hi RNby2019, I had to go thru a string of steps as follows: 1. From Web Advisor, I clicked on the 'student' option 2. Clicked on 'What's my User ID?'... then filled in the prompts. Your user ID should be [email protected] 3. Clicked on 'I don't remember my password'... it will ask you to which email address you want the temporary one sent to (At this point, you'll notice that you do have an MSMU email addy, which I found very exciting) 4. Log in. Hope this helps! Has anyone else put in their deposit?
  9. Hi futureRN9843, I tried direct messaging a few of them through this, but there's a requirement that you post more than a certain amount to be able to send a message and you have to request their permission to speak with them. Not sure if there's another way. If anyone knows of any, please do share! I would like some insight, too. My cousin who currently works at Kaiser and is getting her master's at Asuza works with a recent graduate from the ABSN program. He said it was a grueling program, but that everyone was very helpful and supportive of each other. This includes both staff and students. He advised that I enjoy my time with friends and family now because come the school year - we won't be able to do that.
  10. Has anyone made their deposit to reserve their space, yet? I was able to log into the Web Advisor, but the option to pay for it is not on the website. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)
  11. I got accepted, too! RNby2019, I can't wait to meet you and the rest of our classmates! I got my letter in the mail this afternoon as well and it was dated February 15. Just like you, I keep re-reading the letter to make sure it's real. Have you tried following the steps yet? I feel like the website isn't updated because there are conflicting dates and the instructions to sign up for Web Advisor doesn't match. For all those that are still waiting and got interview invites, GOOD LUCK! Sending you all positive vibes.
  12. When did your Cohort start? Can you please give us a timeline such as the date of your orientation (since I know this is mandatory) and when was your first day? Also, any tips on what we should do to prepare? [i am keeping it positive about getting in so I want to get started/freshen up on studying]. Thank you! :)
  13. I have a previous Bachelor's and I have worked in a medical facility in administration for the past 5 years. I just completed all my nursing pre-reqs in Spring 2017 with only one B and that was in Microbiology. What is everyone else's stats including yours?
  14. I was taking pre-reqs Fall 2016 and Winter 2017. I wrongfully assumed that I didn't have to send and pay TWICE for my official transcripts to be sent after Fall 2016 since I still had Winter 2017. Admissions were expecting me to pay twice to send official transcripts of both Fall 2016 and Winter 2017 completed courses.
