Motlow Applicants 2014

Published

Hey everyone! Just wanted to create a place for potential Motlow Nursing students for fall 2014 to converse, ask questions, and get to know each other. Anyone out there? If so, which campus do you hope to attend? I live near Lavergne, so Smyrna campus will be my home base.

For those of you who have questions about the process over the next 6 months, I went through all of the application/acceptance/orientation/etc steps last year, but had to withdraw 3 weeks before classes started due to a financial aid fiasco...so I know what's to come and would be glad to clarify anything for you.

Good luck to everyone and hope to be meeting you all this summer!

:nurse:

I would email Allison Barton right away. If you got your results back, I'm sure that means you're good to go...but I would definitely check with her anyway to make sure that doesn't put a kink in the processing in any way.

Thank you!! I emailed her, hopefully I haven't messed anything up :nailbiting:

Does anyone know when the 2nd orientation will be? I got a new job and trying to plan everything before school starts :)

I just got email from Alison Barton says the second orientation on August,13 (0830-0330).

Thanks! I see the email now lol

So...this is sort of a minor detail, but what type of uniform shoes is everyone buying? I keep seeing these white croc/clog looking things that don't seem comfortable at all. :dead:

I haven't purchased mine yet, but after doing LOTS of research on what nurses/students prefer, ratings, etc, I came up with these:

Skechers Women's Premium-Premix

They have very few sizes left on Amazon now (no more 8s :()...but those of you with smaller feet can scoop them up for $55.

Another shoe recommendation:

Reebok Walk Ultra IV DMX Max

Tried these on this past weekend at the Reebok store in Opry Mills....SO comfortable! Really sturdy, yet super cushy inside and feels like you're walking on pillows. Pretty sure these are it for me. Only downside is the price - kinda high at $75 with no cheaper deals on amazon. Oh well.

What is everyone else buying?

I got a new balance, super comfortable

* What kind of stethoscope you guys bought?

Does anyone know if the FAFSA grants have been awarded yet? I have not seen anything and I check constantly!!

I didn't get awarded either, I went to the FA lady at Smyrna and she said they are running behind and they will start awarding student in the beginning of this week (today).

If you finished all the requirements by July,15 then don't worry about it, it's just matter of time

I just ordered a Littmann Classic II SE from Medisave.net. Can't wait till it arrives! :woot:

Should we wait to purchase texts? What texts are you guys purchasing prior to classes starting?

I am also curious for anyone who has taken Dosage online if we NEED the text? Also, for the online Nurs 1400, wonder if the text is necessary? I'm guessing yes, but wanted to get some opinions. I feel like I need to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for all this  Of course, I'm still extremely excited!!

I bought all the 11 required books in the paper they gave us at the orientation, But I just find out they added a new book for NURS 1400 (which I didn't buy yet).
