not sure if this is an urban L&D legend or not, but we heard that while mom was out of it in ICU dad named his daughter Clitoria!!!!!:imbar

Worked with a guy named Donna...no really it was on his ID.

Met a guy named Genesis Revelations

Know a little girl whose name is Nolia (as in magnolia like the tree)

Oh and Areola and Candida are popular amoung hispanic girls. Nothing like sounding like a boob and fungal infection here in america!

The woman who drew my blood in to doctor's office was named Candida. I had to look at her badge 3 times to make sure I was readidng what I was reading.

Did you post this on another thread? "Candida" is a common Hispanic name, pronounced "Can-dee-da". Ever heard the Tony Orlando song of that name?

I went to church with a family where the three kids were named Odin, Rainor, and Baldur...dad was Thor and mom had some completely normal name- always made me wonder why she allowed this! I've also seen Semaj (didn't realize that it was James backwards though) and have seen brothers named Chase and Chance.

As someone with a nickname that is chronically mispronounced, I know that when I have kids they will be given the most easy to pronounce and spell names!

I've just been looking at the pictures for my local beautiful baby competition. There is a whole world of weird names out there. Don't know if it's particularly among parents who enter their kids for these competitions.

lots of Kay-[insert own ending] e.g. Kaycee, Kayden, Kayton (also Jaydon, Layton)

Hyphenated names are becoming popular in the UK - Sienna-Ellie, Ellie-May, Jayden-Lee.

Loads of Lilys, Rubys, Archies and Alfies, Tias and Mias.

One proud dad was obviously a big soccer fan, calling his kid 'Rio-Ronaldo'

But the name that drew me in was:

A couple years ago a couple named their boy "Rage"

And earlier this year a couple named their boy "Wolverine"

I've seen a blog from a very creative artist who named her son Maddux, and her daughters Paizlee and Breuklyn. Not really strange, but definitely creative.

My mother was a caseworker for the Welfare Department while my dad was in law school and she had a client with 23 children. All the girls were named "Queen of Sheba" and each was called "Queenie" and all the boys were named "Joseph's Coat Of Many Colors" and each was called "Joseph." State records kept each kid straight by assigning each one a number before his or her name.
