Hey everyone,
I thought I would start a thread for everyone who has applied at MC for this fall 2014. The deadline was this Tuesday April 1, 2014. I have brought in my application last Friday.
So for anyone else who has applied, has been accepted or has any other contributions please share with us!
Hi,
Yes, I received my letter on Saturday. I have been wait-listed. It does appear that you must have all classes competed because of the high number of applicants who have competed all priority courses. I have a 4.0 and a great test score but didn't have all priority classes completed at the time I submitted my application. I will probably only apply to 2 year bachelor of Science programs (for the spring semester) and just apply for graduation in another area of Science/health. Congrats to those who were accepted.
I'll try to start the Facebook group soon. My friend just finished up her first semester in the nursing program and she's going to email me the class syllabus. She'll also tell me which professors are good and which ones to avoid. So if anyone wants to get a head start this summer, let me know. I heard you have to read 10 chapters before your first day.
Quick question, did anyone sign up for the CPR class at MC?
That would be awesome. I am interested in a head start for sure!
I have my CPR but it expires this time next year so I don't know if they'll want me to renew it now or next summer. I think I'll start doing that stuff after orientation so they can explain it and answer questions. I just can't wait for the 20th to come now!!! I want to get books ASAP so I can start reading up. Do you know anything about dosage calc quizzes? I know some programs want you to pass one of those within the first month or so.
ambz13, I think what you are referring to is the a test called the Pro-calc. It's a computerized medication test where you have to be able to do various conversions and math problems. There's 30 questions and you can only get one wrong to stay in the nursing program. The book you have to get is called Calculate with Confidence.
I think during orientation they'll give you a list of textbooks you'll need and some reading assignments. There's about 6-7 main books and a few recommended ones. You'll also need to purchase some nursing materials like a stethoscope, uniforms and name tags. All of this will add up very quickly so start saving now! Can't wait until next week!!!

Bestsis, we have to confirm acceptance by Jun 13th and mandatory orientation is on Jun 20th so you'll probably hear something back between those dates.
Anyone interested in a facebook group so we can introduce ourselves?
