Montgomery College Fall 2014

U.S.A. Maryland

Hey everyone,

I thought I would start a thread for everyone who has applied at MC for this fall 2014. The deadline was this Tuesday April 1, 2014. I have brought in my application last Friday.

So for anyone else who has applied, has been accepted or has any other contributions please share with us!

Hey guys, I also applied to MC for fall 2014.

I submitted my application a week before the deadline by mail, but I haven't gotten any confirmation or anything like that. I have been trying to call in for several days but I'm not getting through. So hopefully my application was properly delivered...

This is my first time applying to MC. Does anyone know anything about the admissions process (like how selective it is, or how they go about accepting people, etc.)?

Personally, I pass the marks in terms of TEAS and having my prereqs all finished, but my gpa is not going to be as competitive... Look forward to your comments, thanks!!

I got in last year. They send you a letter certified mail with an invitation to an orientation in June. I got my letter in mid-May and they were saying they would start sending them out May 31st so they came in a bit earlier.

I think it's most important to have priority courses done first and then they rank you on TEAS and GPA. It also depends on applicant pool. Best of luck to everyone!

Is anyone working full time while doing the MC program? I'm doing full time nights and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to survive. I chose MC because I am newly out on my own and need to support myself throughout school and this program is only about 9 credits/semester. I figured part time school and full time work wouldn't be too bad.

Oh and they never sent me a confirmation last time and all was fine. They didn't this time either, but when I dropped off my app in January (way early because I didn't want my TEAS score to expire and have to retake) the lady specifically said, "Okay, I have it. I don't want any phone calls asking if it was received."

They must get bombarded. It would be smart of them to give you a confirmation/ receipt... something!

Thank you ambz13!

So I did send my application in about a week before the deadline, which I know is relatively late. But do you have any info about if it is kind of a first come first serve basis (?). Personally, I did finish all the prereqs and my TEAS was fairly solid..

I really don't think it's first come first serve. I think they just look at all the qualified people who applied and take the most qualified till however many they can put in the class. If the applicant pool is relatively low scores/ gpa then chances will be higher to get in, but if there are lots of very qualified people it might be more competitive. You never know, but lets keep our fingers crossed!

Great thank you very much! So do you think we could be hearing around mid May then?? Sorry for all the questions!

No worries! I'm not sure if it will be the same this year. I might call this week and ask them when I get the chance. Will let you know of any news I get!

Hey everyone,

I sent in my application for fall 2014 but I am very nervous. I have a 4.0gpa and I got a 78% overall on the teas but I am currently taking AP204 and En102. My midterm grade are posted and I have all A's again but I think it will be put into consideration. I included a letter that explained that I will have completed these this semester and I will take my last prerequisite (Bio205) in the first summer session. I hear from some people that all have to be done but others say you don't have to complete all the prerequisites to be accepted. I"m nervous and really just want my acceptance letter. What do you all think. Do I have a real shot at acceptance or no????

Hi MCapplicant. Is this your first time applying to MC?

This is personally my first time applying to MC but from what I read on previous years forums, I think it all really depends on everyone else that is applying. Basically, if it is really competitive and everyone has a 4.0 like you, then it may be more difficult, but then some years people have gotten accepted with few prereqs finished because they had more spots to fill that particular year.

I know that probably doesn't help, but I think you shouldn't count yourself out in any way. I think it definitely doesn't hurt that you have all A's (!) in all your classes right now. Best wishes!!

Hello everyone!!

I also turned in an application for MC's nursing program for fall. I am nervous as well. I did exceed the min. requirement for the Teas test and for the gpa. My only problem is that I am missing MA110( took it last semester but got a D ;(. But i got everything else needed and I am currently in MA116 with a B (too bad it wont help my application since it isn't complete). So I hope I get accepted with missing the math class. I hope all of us gets accepted!!! Good Luck Everyone!!

Hey everyone,

We have a little more wait until we hear back. @MCapplicant you do not need the BI204/BI205 same with math 110 to apply. It helps your application if you get them done beforehand, it give you a priority consideration. Also, did any of you apply somewhere else &is MC your first choice?
