Montgomery College Fall 2014

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hey everyone,

I thought I would start a thread for everyone who has applied at MC for this fall 2014. The deadline was this Tuesday April 1, 2014. I have brought in my application last Friday.

So for anyone else who has applied, has been accepted or has any other contributions please share with us!

Hello everyone ,

MC was my first choice and first time applying. I am taking ch 101 this summer just in case I need to apply somewhere else. I have all the requirements for University at ShadyGrove nursing program minus Ch 101.

Have you gone to a informational session @MCApplicant? Because when I went they look at your preresquite first to see if you have it all then your TEAs test in that order. They basically break the applications into different piles where one pile has all the probity classes to only have only 3 and so on (I hope you guys understand) then with those piles they put the highest TEAs score on the top to the lowest. (They even demonstrated it by stacking up some files). Then from the applications from the top to buttom they count from 1 to how ever many they're accepting. Also they said as long as you have a 2.5 GPA you are fine. My TEAs score wasn't up to par but I do have all my preresquites. So I'm hoping to get in but if I don't I will retake the TEAs test and reapply. Best of luck to everyone!

Hi ProspectRN! Thanks for all of the information!!! That certainly gives a clear picture of the selection process.

I'm sorry if someone has already mentioned this, but does anyone know around when we would be hearing back? Did they mention anything at the information session?

Thanks again.

Hi everyone, this is my first time applying to mc and I have everything except A & P 1 and 2 and I am taking A n p 1 now. My gpa is not that great because I took most online classes and it made my gpa low, but my I got 89 overall percent on the teas exam, and 90 % reading , although my gpa is a little higher than the minimum, I really want to get accepted and mc is my only choice right now. Hope we all get accepted

Let's get in touch people. Post when you hear any information or when you receive your letter. Thanks

Just curious, is anyone looking for a roommate? I am moving around June/July and realized it would be pretty beneficial to have a nursing major roommate. Inbox me if interested!

I know I'm posting this before we find out if we're in, but I just want to give a heads up

Hi! My name is Natasha, and I am also applying for Fall 2014. I turned my application in in early March. I have completed all of my prereq's, but my TEAS was passing, but not the best. If I do not make it in for the fall I will retake TEAS and reapply for Spring 15. I look forward to hearing the results.

Hey everyone, I called the office and they said we will maybe hear back end of may early June? This is later than I expected.

So how do you guys feel about your prospects? I personally am not sure at this point. I completed Microbio, A & P, CHEM, Statistics, Psych, English..(Is that it??) Do you guys know if there is an expiration on Science courses for Montgomery?

Also, my TEAS was fairly solid. According to ProspectRN, MC does look at the TEAS and prereqs, so I am hoping that I can get in, but it is honestly nervewracking not receiving any confirmation, and having to wait all the way until two months later...

Husky-They said the same time frame last year and I think I found out ~May 14th. I guess late May/early June is worst case scenario.

I think you sound like a solid candidate! Depends on all the applications though so that's what makes this nervewracking!!!

Does anyone know if the prereqs have expiration dates on them??

I recently ran into a situation with another school, where they just told me I couldn't apply because one of my courses had expired, which I did not know about until now... Thanks!!

Hi Husky, I was wait listed at UMSON so I'm over here now, hoping to get into MC.

I've heard MC is very highly regarded in the area, but I'm just worried about finding a job after graduation with an associates degree. Anyone else feel this way?

@Em848. Yes some places require you to have an BSN but hospitals like Holy Cross and Shady Grove do not as long as you are a registered nurse. My sister got her associates at MC in 2002 and now works at Walter Reed in Bethesda she only has her associates but considering getting her BSN after 12 years of being a registered nurse. With a BSN the pay is a little higher I suppose
