Monroe College in Bronx ny

Published

I recently got accepted to Monroe College for the fall 2020 nursing program, I haven’t seen recent reviews about the school and I want to make sure I’m making the right decision. Has anyone attended the school, or graduated?

Im not looking to put all my eggs into one basket so I’m still applying for other schools as well.

Thank you :)

I guess it depends on where you live, I know the clinics in Brooklyn wanted the drug testing form e-passport form. My primary was booked until February, besides I just had a physical done a couple of months ago.

Since you are finishing up your semester how is it so far? Are you able to work? I am a Patient tech in the hospital and want to keep my job since I don't have financial aid?

Congrats ?? so far my semester at Monroe has been a learning experience. You can tell that Covid has definitely made Monroe a little unorganized but we are getting through. I am just grateful to be in a nursing program on my journey. As far as working definitely if you can switch your schedule to evening or overnight. This school is so stupid when it comes to working some professors really say you shouldn’t be working in this program. Like are you gonna pay my damn bills ? But we all work still just make sure to be prepared in advance because depending on your schedule first semester will be Monday to Friday till like 3.

Specializes in Med Surge, ER, Chemical Dependency, PMR, ICU.

Thanks for the info. I feel the same way as far as being able to pay my bills. I will be taking Fundamentals and pharmacology/dosage

How is the exams do you find they are structured to what you have studied? also did you go to clinical sites if so was it nursing homes or hospitals and did you have a stethoscope?  What advice if any would you say is the most important to know or do regarding attending this program? Sorry for the ton of questions, just seem so lost not knowing the structure of this school's program. Thanks again.

Hello everyone,

I am approaching the end of my first semester at Monroe. I can agree with the above comment that they were a little unorganized this semester due to covid. Unfortunately we did not get the chance to go to a clinical site, we learned our skills on campus with the use of machines and simulation dummies. But toward the end of our clinical semester we went completely virtual. So it’s been tough to say the least, but we’re getting through it. As far as working, it is doable but you’re expected to be readily available I’d say at least until 4/5. They weren’t as strict this semester but that is very much due to covid once again. But once things get a little better and we are on campus again I don’t think they’ll be letting us off the hook as much as they did. But overall I am enjoying my experience at Monroe. Congrats on those who were recently accepted!

I am accepted for Winter 2021 too. What is the name of the textbooks for Fundamentals and Pharmacology?

@Leyla I would wait before purchasing books. A lot of my classmates went ahead and purchased them but the school ended up providing free ebooks. Thankfully I didn’t spend the money LOL

Specializes in Med Surg.

Unfortunately, @Nelly Lozano is right. Before starting the nursing program at Monroe they waited for us to start class to give us information about the textbooks. And for me, that sucked because I rather have the book rather having it online so I purchased the book anyway.

Hi everyone! This is the only thread I could find on Monroe and I was hoping someone would have some info for me! I recently finished my lpn program and I’m planning on applying to Monroe’s LPN-RN bridge. I’m finding limited information and I don’t personally know anyone who’s attended. Can anyone give me some insight on how competitive admissions is? Also,  can I transfer my TEAS score to them or do they require it to be taken at their school? I scored an 82 so please let me know if I should retake for a higher score. Thank you in advance for any help!

@Joyonelittle Could you message me privately please ? I’m trying to send you a message in private but I can’t. I have a few questions on Monroe college that I was hoping you could answer please ?

I had the same question.  You can transfer your  TEAS score but it can’t be a year old, otherwise, you’ll have to retake it.  Your score is great by the way.  I have applied and waiting for a response.  I was told I should hear something by February.  Good luck

Hi, how are the classes going so far? I'm thinking of going for September 2021 nursing accelerated program. I don't have social media so hopefully someone can answer me here.

Classes are going well. It started up a little unorganized but we’re getting it together.  Everything is online for the rest of the semester. Lots of reading and Youtube but Assignments are manageable for now (we are only in our 3rd week). You just need good time management. Professors are nice which is a plus.

@KayS

Thank you for answering that's great news.
