What do you tell your students Who come to see you first thing Monday morning with , " my mom said to come see you because I fell off my bike Saturday afternoon I think my arm is broken" &/or "my mom said to come see you because I didn't feel good this morning and u could give me something". I had one come in today with a ring stuck on his finger, really tight, finger swollen, ring no moving. I asked when this happened he said Thurs or Fri. Parents were aware and did nothing. Tried calling parents, no answers of course. Left messages that if I did not hear from someone in 10 minutes, I was calling 911. Got a call back (with attitude), someone would come pick him up. SMH.

I thought I was the only one that used the "Monday Morning Urgent Care" line! At least I'm not alone. :) Lol

Yep, had a mom bring her daughter n this am asking me if I thought her daughters ankle was broken? The daughter went tubing 2 weeks ago, really? I'm not sure about your school but I don't have an X-ray machine in the closet. I'm revoking her parenting license. I suggested Urgent Care down the st., and have a nice day.

Wow; that's all I got. I'm literally speechless on this one.

Yep... I also love getting the kids that walk in expecting me to miraculously cure the pain from their bump, bruise, fall, etc on Saturday. I can't fix aches and pains from Saturday.

These are the kids of the people who come to the occupational health clinic on Monday morning because they lost their contact in their eye 5 days ago, or fell 10 days ago and can't use their arm since then. They will tell you they don't want to go to the doctor because they will take X-rays and all that stuff. Yeah just go to the nurse and she will use her fairy dust and all will be well.

When I get my x-ray vision, I will be a billionaire...

...and not work at the school your child is at because I will be a billionaire. That you will still need to see at your local ED or urgent care.

True story- several years ago, when I started this job. I gave all my secretaries little magic wands to use, when it was the silly stuff we can't fix anyway, or for the frequent flyer with "whine-it is". They still have them in the desks, some are even proudly displayed in their pencil cups on their desks (for quick access). (In my job, the secretaries and adm. take care of the medical concerns when I am in another district/building.)
