moms of nursing students should have its own tab on allnurses!
i'm the mom of a nursing student that's working on her bsn. i get a glimpse of the life of a nursing student and the life of a nurse via allnurses. my daughter never gives me as much information as i'd like to get and that's why i love allnurses.:heartbeat
are there any other proud moms out there?

Might be that nursing school just makes her busy. Kudos, keep on supporting her in all. Wishing her the best in her career

Hopefully some day I'll be a nursing school mom. But right now my 12 year old wants to be "an interior designer for sports cars" and my 4 year old insists that "steth-the-scopes" belong to doctors. No amount of playing with my Littman or logical arguments will change his little mind.

I definitely hear it ...
Ouch!
My daughter's not on Allnurses so I'm not hovering over her on this site if that's what you mean.
This site helps me be a bit informed when my daughter and I talk about nursing in general or her future in nursing. If I read something interesting on here I share it with her.
My other children are both college graduates and have wonderful jobs but no one has ever gone into the medical field in our family so I'm still pinching myself that she's going to be an RN.
Hovering...I hope not...proud....Absolutely!!

CathyLady I will forward my mother here, she'd love it, she's been avidly following my plans to start studying an accelerated BSN...her boyfriend's daughter just qualified as an RN and they're always competing about it lol I am a mother of a 14 month old starting prerequisites in September, then hope to be accepted on an accelerated BSN course Spring 2012. I'm a stay at home mother right now and just lying here next to my son thinking about leaving him for long periods makes me nervous, especially since he's surprised me with some scary winter illness this year (hospital with bad bronchiolitis). I'm actually going to have my mother with me for at least 6 months of the accelerated BSN course and then maybe anohter 3-4 months of it visa permitting (she's coming over from the UK to be a nanny for me, my husband will be covering the months she can't be here and will have to drop down to part time work). I'm lucky she's retired and has the financial means to travel and support me here in NY plus I absolutely can't wait to have my family complete and live with my mum again, since we've been apart a long time. Does your daughter have children? Look out for my mother anyway, I'll direct her here!
Anderson11,
I will look for your proud mom!
England..I've been there twice absolutely love it! My husband and nursing student daughter are going this summer.
No, my daughter that's in the BSN program does not have children, she's only 19 and got accepted as a freshman right out of high school. It was the last year this particular university accepted 30 freshman into the School of Nursing and into the Traditional BSN program. She also earned 2 nursing scholarships and the Dean's scholarship. That's why my husband and she are going to England because she's saved us so much money with all the scholarships that's her gift from us!
You are blessed that your mom will come over to babysit and that your husband is able to help out as well.
I love being the mom of a future nurse!
Let me know once your mom signs on!
Best wishes to you.
