Mom having surgery tomorrow... AGAIN!

Hi everyone! I know how supportive I have seen us all be to others, and am just hoping for a small glimmer of good luck from across the far reaches of the web...

My Mom is having surgery tomorrow. Back surgery #4!!! :eek: Laminectomy, discectomy, and removal of previously accumulated scar tissue. Her last surgery had the options of bladder/bowel incontinence, bladder retention, or inability to walk, with the usual nerve damage/pain control may be better; may be worse kind of potential outcomes... I am taking the day off to spend with her post-op as she will remain an inpatient... (HATE having to call in to work and will feel guilty ALL DAY... but she IS my mom!)

Don't feel guilty about taking off work! She IS your mother, and you know she would do the same for you. Family takes care of family. Good luck with your mom!

Thanks to all! Mom was surgi-cized yesterday, and had the first night went pretty well. Today they DC'd PCA, and she is in quite a bit of discomfort today... She is still basically staying flat on her back in bed...

Staying on one's back is so hard to do. I do hope she will be alright.
