Hello,
I am just wondering if anyone has received admission into Mohawk College's RPN nursing program, for the January 2018 start? If so, when did you hear back from the school, and what were your grades and HOAE test scores?
Thank you,
Amy
Apparently I had applied too late for equal consideration, so I get to wait longer to see if there is a chance that i might possibly get in (waitlist is fun).. I have an offer from Niagara that expires at the end of the week so I dont know if I should accept it and then hope that Mohawk gets back to me regarding the wait list or just have faith that I get into Mohawk from the wait list and just turn down Niagara's offer.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Just know you're risking ending up empty-handed.
Nothing new from my end.. I did end up accepting the offer at Niagara but still playing the waiting list with Mohawk. I'm contemplating just going with the offer at Niagara though as it is a modified program that has classes in the evenings which would allow me to work and not owe as much at the end of everything but I don't know.. I'll figure it out if/when I hear back from Mohawk.
Awe well I hope everything works out for you! Everything happens for a reason. I have had so many troubles with my programs and figuring it all out, I can't even believe all the hurdles there are out there to becoming a nurse. I completely understand where you are coming from, best of luck!
Can anyone help me out with this?
In terms of timetable... how does it work? Do we choose from a few already pre-set timetables, or do we make our own? Does it just get assigned to us? And can we request what day to have off, or what day to have clinical? And where do most clinical sessions happen? How do students get to clinical if they don't have a car, is carpool common?
I know this is a lot at once, I'm sorry ahaha, I am just trying to figure everything out as I have a full year health science course from Sept. 2017 - April 2018 to complete for my degree... and it overlaps with the nursing program. I feel highly capable of handling it, but it is just a matter of figuring everything out for my travels from city to city.
Thank you
Hey RPN2bPaige,
In terms of housing in Hamilton, there really isn't much at all! Thankfully, I lived in McMaster's residence my first year, and now I'll be living in an off-campus student residence. There are some student rooms at an apartment downtown Hamilton but I am not too sure their name. And there is also West Village Suites which is on Main St. Personally, I would avoid most of the regular apartment building in Hamilton as they are not the greatest.... many bedbug reports which can be found online, many complaints and bad reviews online, and they are too expensive for no reason. I do know of some people living in Dundas area, and have great experiences, but they have a 15-20 minute bus ride every day which really isn't too bad.
I hope this helps! Definitely do some intense research on a place before signing a lease, as many students tend to get stuck in a place they don't like.
