Modesto Junior College ADN program

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses and was wondering if there was anyone going to MJC. I have applied to their nursing program 3 times and will find out next month whether I was accepted :uhoh3:. If you are in the ADN program at MJC, how many times did you apply before you got in??

mizukusai,

thanks for the info!!:) it's so expensive, luckily i get financial aid that should pay for just about all of it. i do wish i had gotten in to fall but i guess it is better that i am working through christmas. i have 3 kids and christmas is expensive for me. congrats on getting in and let us know how first semester is.:clown:

Congrats to all of you that got in!

I have a question for all of you that have applied before...I've applied in the past, took and passed the entrance exam, etc., but still need to take math 90 to meet the new requirement. That's my question, actually. I just want to make sure that that's, in fact, the case. It just seems so illogical that the math 90 requirement would apply to previous applicants who have passed the entrance exam, especially since they aren't requiring a re-take of the entrance exam that would cover math at that level. I've asked a counselor about it and at first she wasn't sure, then said yes, it was required. I just want to make sure, since she seemed uncertain herself.

Thanks for any advice! We'll all get in eventually :) I'd love to hear the experiences of those of you who got in!

went to the orientation meeting yesterday I am hearing that about 50% of the students don't make it through to graduation.

That is terrible! They actually told you that in orientation? Seriously, a 50% retention rate does not say much about their program! I love MJC... but if that number is accurate, they need to be looking at what the problem is.

Math 90 is a requirement for all... past & present applicants

dvas00,

Yes, unfortunately, that is the case. I had applied 4 times already and they told me that I would not be able to reapply for the 5th time unless I had completed Math 90. I was sooo mad, I even met with the Director of the nursing program and she told me I HAD to take it to reapply. I was able to get into the spring 2010 math 90 class so that I could reapply in May and I got in for Spring 2011!!! Good luck to you:D

I need to compare the requirements to get into CSU Stanislaus BSN against the pre-reqs for ADN at MJC. Because MJC is on the lottery system, I want to make sure I also qualify to apply to Stan State when I'm done w/ the pre-reqs for MJC.

Does that make sense?

Hi everyone

I have applied twice for the Columbia satellite program and haven't gotten in. I ran into a fellow student recently who told me that half of the class applying for the first time at Columbia got in. How can that be??????

The Columbia class is only 10 students and with all of us with our names in 2 times, 3 times, etc how could that

many get in on the first try? Does anyone know how the lottery thing actually works.

Any luck with getting into the Columbia sat. program? I was up there the other day. I was thinking of completing my pre-reqs there, but the drive is pretty long.

Hey Mammoto3

orientation is next month. Please study your abbreviations and med terms if you have any books or downloadable terms from ADN website. Have you had Pharm class yet or recent anat or physio?

Wow it has been a challenging semester so far.

by the way there was a way around math 90. and for those who need to know what classes qualify for csu that are taken at mjc try assist.org for equivalencies. a knowledgeable counselor is priceless but difficult to find. so make sure to get an appt with a couple of counselors to really find out the correct class equivalencies.

some counselor just don't care if you have correct info. to make class decisions.

I tried getting into MJc and gave up with the first rejection letter, I decided to go for Stan State and I actually got in for Spring 2011 on my first try. I had the 37 General ed requirements to transfer and then I just ha dto take Statistics and Organic CHem in addition to thr MJC pre-requisites. I never saw a counselor once, but I know it may have been earier had I gone to see one. They have nursing program info sessions every month at Stan State and they give out a lot of info.

They list all of the info on their website too.
