MJC 2018 Spring application

Published

IM applying Spring 2018 for the MJC ADN program. Who else is applying?

My personal opinion is that it won't go much higher, especially with the changes that occurred this year with the MSPAR. Last year, around 74 was the cutoff, I believe. I think you are probably a definite in with 78 points! If you can renew your CNA to get 81, even better, but 78 is a great number to apply with. I honestly won't be surprised if the cut off is the same or even lower this year. Are you also applying anywhere else?

I really hope it doesn't go much higher. I'm so ready to move forward in this aspect of my life. But thank you so much! I'm hoping 78 makes the cut, I also applied to SJ Delta, thought about Merced Community also but the commute would be too much for me, how about yourself?

I'm applying at MJC and Delta, and no where else..I am really hoping to get in to one of those! I'm married with 3 kids so I didn't really want to go anywhere further than here.

With your points you are guaranteed a spot! Hope to see you and meet you on the other side

Fingers crossed! I had a friend get DQ'd last year for making a mistake on her application and points wise she should have been in... So I'm staying hopeful and not counting my chickens yet. Likewise on seeing/meeting you on the next chapter!

Hello future MJC nursing students. I am a class representative in the MJC nursing program. I graduate in 2 weeks and will finally be finished. Just wanted to give you guys a little insight into what the scores are since you are all interested in what those were. The lowest score accepted into the last cohort was 72 and the lowest score before that was 72 as well. This was of course after people decided not to join MJC for whatever reason and it had opened up slots for people on the alternate list. Keep your heads up and good luck. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you for that information. I sense there will be some slight shifts with the MSPAR changes, but we shall see. But that ballpark figure is definitely helpful. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation, and good luck on your NCLEX!

Hey, guys! I'll be applying in May as well. My nursing advisor (Kelly Bishop, awesome lady... teaches 4th semester nursing @ MJC) went over my MSPAR with me and I'll be applying with 85 points as long as I finish this semester with A's in both comm 100 and sociology 102. Otherwise I'll be applying with 80-ish points.

I'm super stoked! I took Nursing 115 this semester and it really seems like the program at MJC is awesome, and the facilities are totally top-notch. I definitely have a bad case of senioritis, though... I'm ready to be done with prerequisites and start learning the good stuff! :-)

MissMoTheMrs, what mistake did your friend make on her application last year that got her DQ'd? I'm pretty nervous about that, because I've been told that all it takes is one strike and you're out, even if the error is minor and unintentional.

Only 18 more days until the application opens, you guys.... fingers crossed!

Hello! I'll be applying next month! I'm at the low range (73) but I have really high confidence that this year is my year!

The thing that she claims DQd her was mistakenly transposing 2 digits on a number, I think a GPA. She was kicking herself for the error! (Especially since she had 74 points and likely would have made it in!) Fortunately, she got in at Delta, so she's halfway through their program now.

I will be applying next month as well. I will have 77 points as long as I keep my A in physiology. I am really hopeful that I will get in, but I am also applying to Delta as a backup.

77 is a solid number! I also applied to both. Good luck!
