I am applying for the nursing program at MJC in May. Where are my fellow hopefuls at? I'm applying with 65 points not including my TEAS test, I haven't taken it yet. I'll take the test in March. I purchased the ATI study manual and have so far found quite a few answers in the KEY wrong.
Correct me me if I'm wrong but the cutoff for points last year was 70-71. How are you doing so far?
Hi everyone,
Congrats to those of you selected to continue in the process!! I will be entering my 3rd semester in the fall. I saw that some were asking about the schedule, it's not exactly what the class schedule says. For the first 7/8 weeks, you'll be in class 4 days a week. Monday/Tuesday will be in-class clinical hours that you will learn how to perform different skills, it's typically 830-1pm. In addition to those in class clinical hours, you are expecting to be in the skills lab practicing an additional 10+ hrs a week. After 8 weeks, you will be start clinical, either Monday or Tuesday or both depending on the week. Lecture is Wednesday/Thursday throughout the semester. Hope this helps!
Hey everyone,
I am currently on summer break and I am about to start my third semester of nursing at MJC. Just to clear some things up for you guys.
MJC cutoff last year was 72
Columbia cutoff was 68
To be honest with you I don't see score rising too much higher than what is did last cohort. But then again you never know. Bringing in TEAS 6 has changed the dynamic slightly. This is because the average TEAS 6 scores are slightly higher than they were for the TEAS 5.
My advice is to just enjoy your summer and not worry too much about your application. Because at this moment there is nothing you can do about your acceptance right now. Asking one another about scores will only drive you crazy and put more stress on you that you don't need at this time. I overly stressed about my application until July 19th last year and I regret that because I wasn't enjoying my time off. Once you get into the program you literally do not have a social life. So, enjoy all that you can right now.
If you guys have any other questions feel free to ask.
Applied with 76 this year if I don't get in then next year I'll apply with 80 (1 extra for degree, I extra for teas, and 2 extra for transfer classes) but I will be adding volunteer and work experience as well so total would be 84... but hoping I just get in this year.
Wow that's a huge increase! I applied with 65 this year but next year I will be adding volunteer, cna & work experience, higher gpa, completion of transfer courses and one point on the teas. I will be applying with 78 points. I was going to enroll in Gurnick for the extra two points but that is a whole lot of debit for two more points. Hoping the cutoff doesn't increase that much
Higher gpa doesn't get you extra points unless your planning on retaking a class that's worth points? And that is a great jump as well. I honestly don't find the new mspar is super exciting because everyone's points will be going up even people with high points. Only new thing I like is the completion of transfer classes because I know alot of people complete them but not all people. They also got rid of the third teas attempt and that's going to hurt people which could very much make it not jump up next year but then again just my opinion I could be completely wrong ... I just have friends who will be applying next year and I want them to get in and I wanna still be able to get in next year as well if I can't get in this year. Sorry to hear you weren't accept that really does suck I wish everyone could get in but I know they can't. Everyone works so hard to get to this point I give everyone a high just getting through the prereqs lol hopefully you get in next year. Are you going to apply to delta in september for spring? Or stan state in December?

I took micro at CSU stan and got a C. So taking at a lower level will get me more points for a B or A. I have a bachelors degreee so I get more points for that. I just hope that I don't have to wait forever. I was thinking of applying for delta for fall but I would have to see if they'll accept my upper level physio. Last time I called they asked me if MJC accepted them. So I might have to fight but my points are in the 65 area. Not sure if that's even worth it.
