MJC allnurses 2021

Published

Hello guys! I am making this post so that we can talk about our application process ? I have not seen any other post regarding MJC 2021 application period. How are you guys holding up? Any new time applicants?

I asked the same question and The lady who evaluated the applications wrote me back and said it was fine with the whole name, like “BIOL 31 Human Anatomy”

How are you guys inputting your class names? Are you guys putting the whole name of the course? For example "General Biology MBIO-111". I've been putting just MBIO-111 but I am not sure now if it matters if the whole course name is on there

I had the same question and I asked the lady who evaluates the applications. She wrote me back and said it was fine with the whole name, like “BIOL 31 Human Anatomy” rather than just BIOL 31. She told me I won’t be disqualified for not having it exact since they will look at the transcripts. That’s why I think you just do your best. It’s probably more clear to write the whole name.

Hi Everyone,

I talked to a MJC nursing advisor about 2 weeks ago.  As of then, due to covid, they are taking the same amount of reduced applicants as last year, just to be on the safe side.  They would hate to accept normal amount and then have to say no to some people if the clinical space is less.  She said last year the accepted scores for MJC were between 80-92.  She said they are hoping to have everyone notified by April maybe May.  I did not ask about Columbia.

Also adding, I spoke to a friend that got into the program last year. She said that since it’s the same reduced numbers as her year, due to Covid, 40 will be accepted for fall. 30 to MJC and 10 to Columbia. Out of that, 80% will be based on merit, 20% lottery. So MJC will be 24 merit, 6 lottery. Columbia will be 8 merit, 2 lottery. She said it should be the same numbers for the Spring semester. Good luck to everyone!

Thank you for the information! It’s definitely going to be interesting to see what ends up happening with many of these programs that are very unsure how many they can admit!

Confused what that means for advanced placements.. they receive a grant every year for taking in LVNs and other AP’s. So maybe only 2-5 instead of the regular 10/semester? I haven’t come across any other AP applicants on here or the facebook group and haven’t been told by anyone at MJC about reduced LVN applicants. It’s kind of frustrating.

Good Luck to everyone! Little down on my score of 80 pts total on my application . Re took the TEAS and got the same score as previous. Best of luck to all.

Yeah waiting is going to be hard. Curious to see if the cut off will remain the same as last year due to COVID.

I am currently applying with 83pts but I’m so scared. I already got denied last year and I’m tired of waiting ?

You got denied with 83 points?!

No last year I applied with 79 I believe ! But I messed up on my application so I got denied. But I keep seeing that the deadline for last year was 79/82 so I hope it’s the same this year !!
