MJC allnurses 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi guys! I thought it would be a great idea to start a new thread for those of us who are planning on applying to Modesto Junior College RN program. It would be great if we would all share with how many points we are applying with, this would give us an idea to see what are our chances are on getting in the program. With all the new changes, it is hard to tell what the cutoff on the points will be. I will be retaking my TEAS and hoping to apply with maybe 80 points or so. Hopefully ?????

I will be applying to MJC as well. I'm sending out my app Fedex Overnight/Rush tomorrow morning. I'm applying with 87 points. Good luck to everyone! ?

You are mailing your app? Did I miss a step? I submitted my app online and thought that you wait for selection to submit all supporting docs. I have submitted to multiple programs , maybe I am getting them mixed up. I hope not otherwise I need to get busy.

No, you're probably right. I think I got WAY too ahead of myself considering ARC, SCC, and Chabot require online first then their online printed cover page along with all the had written documents all together. I shuffled around to have all my course descriptions, transcripts, LVN verification, TEAs print out, and employment verification all lined up ready to mail! haha I thought that I had read through this thing over and over, but I must've been mistaken. Thank you for the heads up! ?

I was having technical issues with the online app (my psych/anth/comm classes wouldn't upload) so I emailed the counselors, Marcos and Vie. I ended up seeing Marcos in person with all my stuff (course descriptions, unofficial transcripts, teas, "need to work," healthcare experience) and he was so kind enough to review with me and help me fill out the application from his computer since mine was having tech problems. Boy, I'm really glad I drove out there after a hectic 12 hour grave yard shift because he was extremely helpful. I got to apply today with 91 points.

I met a friendly applicant in the waiting area while he was waiting to see a counselor. It makes me feel so happy knowing that everyone is super friendly and helpful, which are great qualities for prospective RNs. It makes me proud to be a part of this profession. I didn't catch his name but if he happens to read this, thanks for chatting with me and I apologize again for appearing frantic and swearing haha I obviously needed sleep.

Best of luck to everyone! ?

Ok hi everyone! I’m rushing down to MJC tomorrow and wondering if anyone knows if it is worth it or not? What do they generally take in as far as points? Of course all schools are worth it lol but I will have (from what I counted Off of my iPhone lol ) 78pts. Any info would be so helpful!

Hello!

I went down yesterday to speak to one of the counselors, Marcos. He helped me fill out my online app. The office is closed this Friday and next Monday due to Holiday. If I were you, I'd get seen as soon as possible because the online portion deadline is this Friday.

Marcos told me that after the online deadline, an e-mail will be released to select 80 students based on merit and 20 students randomly selected via lottery to move onto the next round. This email will be released through our student emails on 2/18 and 2/19. The email will tell us to bring in all documentation required (transcripts, course descriptions, special forms like "need to work", license verifications, stuff like that). We have to HAND deliver these items on 2/20 or 2/21.

As far as points, I'm afraid I forgot to ask him the cut off. You should ask them that when you see them tomorrow. That's an excellent question

Ok I will ask about points! Do you suggest bringing anything to the appointment? They said to bring my OFFICIAL transcripts but that was it so I am taking those with me. I’m assuming this is to help with my appointment and figuring out what units will transfer.

how many students do they take did he say? I know you said basically 100 get the email but there is no way they take 100 students lol. I’m assuming whoever doesn’t take their stuff in doesn’t get a spot but how many do they accept?

Ask about points and how many students that they accept because I forgot to ask lol my bad. I would bring in unofficial transcripts at least just in case so that they can go over stuff that he can get extra points for like the MSPAR and having nutrition and med terminology, stuff like that. I didn't bring in officials. When I calculated on my own last week, i was at 87 points but after going over with a counselor, I discovered that I was actually qualified for 91 points so I was beyond excited to hear this. I would bring in documents and forms with you just in case.

Great! Ya I’m gonna bring them just in case. I am hoping I have more points I just did a quick once over but their form is so full I know I probably missed stuff. So fingers crossed I’ll get some more points!
