Mispronunciations That Drive You Nuts

Updated:   Published

Car-dee-ya-zem.

It's car-di-zem. Or dil-ti-ya-zem.

Cardiazem isn't a real thing.

Can I get an amen?!

What I don't like are mispronunciations that cause medical errors. What's in a drug name?

That's a mouthful.

It's Phen-er-gan, not phen-a-grin.

It's a Holter monitor, not a halter.

Spelling- it's HIPAA, not HIPPA.

When I see it as "HIPPA", I picture this:

I cannot, for the life of me, pronounce "sphygmomanometer"  . I am glad that now they use the electronic one called "blood pressure machine".

Wow! I can't believe it's so common and I hadn't heard of it before. Unless maybe I'm just living under a rock? I've been known to do that from time to time.

Better have yourself checked.....don't snails squeeze under rocks sometimes?

Well, speaking of mush-mouth, when I came home I was telling my hubs about the place I did PD 7a-7p today; they put out 9 heaps of cracked corn for the wild turkeys and deer, songbirds and squirrels.

Most of the day there was a squirrel sitting amidst their very own pile of cracked corn, eating-eating-eating-eating......for HOURS. And I was saying how I did not know how they had room for one more bite of cracked corn in their stomachs......."you'd think their butts would be gusting!"
