Military nursing

Published

i was offered a job as a military nurse. but before that i have to survive the rigorous 8 month training!

so what do you think? should i pursue it? during the 8 month long training we are not allowed to leave the camp's premises or even allowed to have contact with the outside world no cellphones no internet. I really want to take advantage of the opportunity but, 8 months without contact with your friends and family? i think its hard. as of the moment i'm still pondering, should i take it or let it go? please give me your insights. thanks

military nurse or go abroad, money or title,

wow, a hard option!

Specializes in MS, Renal, Nursing Admin.

Just want to share little information i got from my friends who are already in the AFP-Nurse Corps.

- Application for Nurse Corp is almost the same as applying for hospital, it will still be a long process.

- Priority applicants are those with above 80 board rating and military dependents

- "palakasan" system is present when you apply as a nurse corps

- I have a friend, he applied and took the exam November 2008. Luckily he passed. But he underwent the very long process in applying. It was only last November of 2010 where he was finally in as P2LT... Now he's on his Military Training for 45 days in Tarlac....

Goodluck to all who aspires to work as a Military Nurse....

Hey guys.. i'm fresh on this thread.. Anyway, i've been researching and reading numerous posts about being a military nurse. A few months ago, a friend of my gf asked me if i was interested to get my self in the NC, had second thoughts since I have zero knowledge of what the nature of a MN is. It's been 3 years that my nursing career is on a roller coaster ride. So just this past few days, i've done deep thinking and come to decide that I'll give it a go.

Does anybody knows when could be the best time to check the office and get scheduled for an exam? Coz as what I've read, there are batches in a year being set for training. How true is it?

Please enlighten me. Help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi guys ...

Is it true that if you have a backer in the Military that it is true that you can get in right away as a nurse corp ?

Which is better to be a nurse corp or to be a Police Nurse ?

Please enlighten me on the differences and the process of both. Thank you so much!!

hi everyone.i'm new here.i wanted to join the nurse corps but i'm a little bit worried if i will be accepted since i don't know anyone from the corps

The examination was really difficult...I already took an exam in military nursing because my father told me to do so and give it a try:nurse:. As I remember, everything is in that exam, multiple choice, enumeration, terminologies, fill-in the blanks, ncp's, giving the pathophysiology of the disease, a lot of conversions, essays...huh...name it...

whaaattttttt?:uhoh3:

Hi to all fellow nurses following this thread! I recently went to OTCN to submit my requirements for military nursing. I was politely assisted by the personnel in charge. I told her as of now, I am still waiting for my PRC license due to the late release in provincial offices. But as a proof that I passed the July 3&4 NLE, I attached the Board Rating Certificate and Certificate of Passing along with other requirements. She told me that they really need a photo copy of the license and I told her I will furnish her a copy as soon as it is available. After that she told me to register with details such as name, address, contact number, board rating, height, civil status, school attended to and year graduated etc. She also asked me whether I am wearing eyeglasses and I told her I do not use one. After which she told me to patiently wait for her SMS telling me the date of my exam. She even added that it might take a while to receive a message coming from the office since they are still accommodating those who applied since 2010. What really surprised me was that she did not get the folder containing my credentials and just told me to bring them (together with the license if it is already available) during my scheduled date of examination. Do you also have the same experiences? Thanks.

Your reply is very much appreciated. Let us all aim high!

@ frituplus, we both have the same experience!I applied there last month and i've been waiting for the schedule of the examination through text.unfortunately it will take a little longer because they still have pending applicants from last year,i've even heard some of the applicants way back in 2009 are still waiting for the said examination.ouch!!btw what's your rating man?i think we need to be a little patient.i want this so bad!!this is my dream man!

@the calling, thank you for your response. I got 83.2%. To become a member of the Philippine Nurse Corps would be a dream come true for me too. Let's hope for great results. You are right let us just be patient. Nevertheless, when do you think is the right time to follow up your application?

Right now we don't have a choice but to wait for their text confirming the exam, unless you got someone to back you up to speed up your application.they've got lots of application before us maybe hundreds or thousands.i just hope that if we pass the exam we don't have to wait for another exhausting months for the interviews and succedding steps.it's better to have a plan b or plan c in case it didn't went through the way we want.

Eight months?

My sister was a Philippine Army nurse for several years. At most, basic training is only three months and the training was light because they are not combatants.

Not sure of the 8 months which I know for sure when a cousin joined the Marines that communication was not allowed for during the training. Two other cousins of mine who went to boot camp for two months where not allowed to communicate until they became PMA cadets.

Pay is pretty much better plus the benefits of being an officer. I think you have stay with the military for six years but that is better than doing volunteer work in the hospital plus the retrogression.

Hi rep..can i ask how your sister go on the process in applying as military nurse? thanks for the info.. :)
