i was offered a job as a military nurse. but before that i have to survive the rigorous 8 month training!

so what do you think? should i pursue it? during the 8 month long training we are not allowed to leave the camp's premises or even allowed to have contact with the outside world no cellphones no internet. I really want to take advantage of the opportunity but, 8 months without contact with your friends and family? i think its hard. as of the moment i'm still pondering, should i take it or let it go? please give me your insights. thanks

@hazyblue: yes, she explained to me also the mil. dependent thing.. my friends told me last night that if that's not your case you just need a backer, and surely they'll accept your application. Sigh..

Wow. That's so honest of them. I suppose it can't be helped. Military nursing already lowered their standards by accepting grades below 85. I guess you have to really be important for them to go and bend the rules once more. :p

Though last time I checked, they do accept civilians with grades less than 80 before. Maybe they have chosen to be stricter because there's around 47000+ applicants to the nurse corps from what I've heard.

At least they were honest to you, sometimes people just don't even talk to you. You don't even know what you did wrong. And then low self-esteem hits. :crying2:

If you do not have any plans yet in leaving our country, then I should say it is good for you to enter military nursing. I know that they require a certain number of years before you leave the service. The 8 long months of no communication with the outside world will not be a heavy burden since you will go through a very busy training schedules and before you know it it is over. my husband is in military, and every time he's in schooling he doesn't have any contact from us, and we can survive it. if you will take into consideration the compensation you'll receive it's worth it at the same time you are serving are fellowmen. Make-up your mind what is really your calling.. Good luck!

I've been to the Office of the Chief Nurse at Bulwagang Valdez earlier today. I went there at about 10:30am, well groomed and with me are all the initial requirements. I asked a lady inside the office if I was on the right place at the right time because there's some renovation of the building going on. I asked her if I can submit my requirements for my application. She just asked me my Board Rating and I just told her that it's 80.6%. After hearing it she told me to just come back after 3 weeks because they are not accepting applicants for this day. That was all that she told me. She didn't bother to explain to me why and what else should I do. I am not sure if she really is the right person to ask questions to. I felt like I just went there for nothing. I hope someone could give me an update about the application for Nurse Corps.. I am really eager to be one.. And i hope you guys can give me a heads up so that i can be prepared.. :o

hi,

i passed my application last year around july unfortunately they are still processing june applicants. The officer said on the phone that they really have thousands of pending applicants last year.

They require 80% board grade, height requirement of 5'3 for girls 5'5 for boys (as i remember) and must have a 20/20 vision. For applicants wearing contacts or eyeglass, you will be referred to an eye doctor. I think the maximum grade should be 150 only.

Remember it's a government and military department. The backer system here is there tradition. Walk in applicants are never the priority. I guess that's the saddest part.

.

hi brigz, it seems to me that you have lots of ideas in applying as military nurse. On that case, I'd like to ask something. I'm suppose to endorse by my dad's friend, a retired general who have worked in procurement dept. at v.luna hospital, and I've already submitted my requirements but don't have yet final decision if i'll go ahead the said training. Can you please give me some idea on how things goes around in training? I don't want to have further regrets though once I'm in. I'm really desperate looking for a training hospital and hired me afterward. I bet it would be really hard for someone not to get a hold of your family in 8 months.

If i'll go ahead accept the offer, am i going to be transferred to another military base hospital not in v.luna itself? And my dad told me that the contract will cover three years, do you think this is fair enough? Has anybody here undergone the military training? How was it? I'm getting confused. Was it really hard not to get a hold of your family? Even just for a single thing, I'm really worried about this. Any thoughts in here? :sstrs:Please...please....u gotta help me to find a way out...Thanks so much!!!

i've been a nurse resident in VLGH. I was fortunate somehow to be friends with the nurse corps. They were even pushing me to apply for NC. They said the basic military training is like a simple game for them. They didn't even realize it was over. BMT for NC is only 40+ days unlike in regular military training which is 6 mons +. Almost all of them said it was very enjoying and good for their health and figure.

Yes, they have what they call restrictions. P2LTs are not allowed to go beyond the camp and speak to outside people for a particular time. The first field of exposure is on Vluna hospital for 6 months. BTW P2LT is Probationary 2nd Lieutenant. It will depend on the orders above when will they be fully hired. Sometimes 6 months, sometimes years but the good thing is that they are still earning around 20k even if under probationary. Also, one cannot choose a specific location for deployment. Remember that VLuna is just the training ground, after 6 months one can be deployed in the hospitals of mindanao, visayas or luckly luzon.

Glad i could help somehow.:redpinkhe

hello, just to clarify things... the examination will take place at bulwagang valdez and probably we'll have the shorter or the longer exam or either of the two... and after taking the examination.... when will be the results? is is after 2 weeks or they will be the one who will tell us? and as for the examination there will be ncps, computation, critical questions involving nurses in the military force? and regarding the computations, are there like anwers on the paper? like a multiple set of answers? and you'll just encircle the correct one? are there any questions like enumerations... eq. whats 10Rs? or how to tranfuse blood/ infuse ivt?

sorry for too many questions... i just need to research more on these stuffs coz if i fail the examination my father is going to kill me (just a figure of speech/ not literally) :)

does it count if you have an ivt lic if you apply as a military nurse?

Please give me some ifo on where is the exact location where I can passed my resume or where should I apply as a military nurse. Please enlighten me, if you a re a nurse at VLUNA HOSPITAL are you a military nurse then or not??

hi everybody. this is my first time here. i just want to ask if i can pass my application here in baguio city (pma) rather than goin there in manila. considering the effort, money and time plus the fact that my own application may not be honored, i think its not practical to go there if i can pass my application here in baguio. im just wondering if i can do so kase i noticed that baguio city pma was never mentioned in the previous messages and comments in this page.

unfortunately you can't sumbit an application at pma. it should be at camp aguinaldo, general headquarters of afp. you need to take that risk of submitting your documents even if your from baguio. its part of the process that you need to risk your effort, money and time. if you will not take that risk then nothing will happen with your desire to join the nurse corps.

first thing first just be sure that you meet the qualifications that they specify. coz if you dont it will really be waste of time, money and effort. after evaluating yourself, and you think you meet their qualifications you can call ghq's nurse corps office (bulwagang valdez). tell them that you are from baguio and you want to take the exam. the people their are considerate if an applicant comes from far far away land :-) they will give you a schedule right away....

im working in a military hospital that's why i have some idea about this:d:d good luck to your application....
