Military nursing

i was offered a job as a military nurse. but before that i have to survive the rigorous 8 month training!

so what do you think? should i pursue it? during the 8 month long training we are not allowed to leave the camp's premises or even allowed to have contact with the outside world no cellphones no internet. I really want to take advantage of the opportunity but, 8 months without contact with your friends and family? i think its hard. as of the moment i'm still pondering, should i take it or let it go? please give me your insights. thanks

i dont think u need to have a "backer"to be hired as a military nurse. you need to be competent enough (physically fit, high board rating, etc). our family do not know anyone in the military and yet my sister got in after 3 long years. lol

Goodmorning Nurses....I'm just new here. I just want to ask to those updated persons here, what's the updates regarding Military Nurse in our country? when will be the exam and are they still accepting? thank's....

does anyone know if they have weight requirements (i have a normal BMI but still, i'm concerned) and if wearing glasses is a minus?

:idea:thanks for the comment guys..it really helps me to decide if im going to pursue to become a military nurse... enryboi:D

hello, just wanted to ask if you will have a chance to go abroad and work there?

hello... i went to the chief nurse office at the bulwagang valdez last february,2012.. first thing i did was i wrote may name and board rating which i got 82.80% at their logbook. then i went to another person inside the room to review my qualifications.. and she said i am qualified BUT...... currently there is no vacant position and CURRENTLY they are processing the application for those who applied last year 2011.. soo i guess i just have to wait for their text for a year or two..

but i wanted to pursue to become a military nurse coz its my dream.. and im currently taking my masters degree so i guess i will be master degree holder when they text me. :yelclap:

for incognition143.. having a background of working as a military personnel gives u a chance to get jobs in abroad coz of military discipline and high standard.. i guess..:D

hello lenjoy03, your post help me a lot, im a newly grad r.n and i have a same dilemma with lorodz about entering military nurse, anyway im new here. and i found this forum about military nurse, and it seems it been a past years ago.. :) hope you read my reply :)

hi cathybedrio! i passed the requirements last october but i dont have a hard license yet so i went back last november and then they told me that my schedule of exam would be on november 11.But after 3 weeks of waiting i found out that i failed the initial exam. Then they told me that i would have my second exam on december 10 last year.I still took the exam for the second time and luckily i passed!! And now, after several months of waiting they told me that my interview will be on last week of may or june..Its really hard because you cant even apply to any job opportunities (if any) if you're enthusiastic in this crap.Just adding more patience in waiting for the upcoming interview. This will be my first ever interview thats why im so nervous and worried especially on my english skills..

hi 032987rn i'm new here and i found this forum helpful for me, im a newly RN last year 2011, and i took the qualifying exam in military, same experience with yours, i take my exam on june 13, '12 they said to me to wait one month for the result, after waiting i found out that i failed the exam.. they also told me that i can retake, but im thinking right now if im going to take again.. because..... just like yours its really hard to apply in other job opportunities because you are waiting over and over. i took the 100 items exam on my first take, and im curious what will be the 2nd one, it is the same again? or it will be the shorter one (35 items)? and i'm worried because i'm not that "genuis" when it comes to computation, (i think thats the reason why i failed my 1st exam)

maybe you can just tell the secretary that you don't still have your license.. instead show her your claim stub... but make it sure that you already have your certificate of passing as well as your board rating.. xerox it all along with your TOR, Diploma ..oifcourse you have to bring your resume..

The age limit of military nursing I think will be 29 years old or 26 years old.. maybe try to look at their website at nursecorps.net. I just got passed the entrance exam.. PM me for tips..haha.. Goodluck guys!!!:D:D:D

hello optimistic,RN.. it's been long a year ago now, so you are now a military nurse??.. :) i took my first exam this year but unfortunately i failed but they said that i can retake. help us out aspiring military nurse. :)

good for you! :yeah: i hope i will too. i failed the first one, and just did the retake last month.. 5 months after failing the first one.haha!

just an update, the lates age limit as posted at their office was 28 y/o.

for those wearing eyeglasses, the limit grade is 150.

hi medic8 i'm a newbie here, i found this forum helpful esp. when i took my qualifying exam in military, but unfortunately like yours, my first exam was failed, maybe because i have a short period of preparation, but i can retake again they said.. i'm thinking if i can use calcu on my retake, coz on my 1st take i didn't use, (that time im shy to ask if we can use, plus i saw the other applicants don't have any) and that was REALLY HARD for me coz im not that genuis when it comes in computation.. wahh!! how about you now? are you already a military nurse?

I called the otcn recently(last week to be exact) and i inquired about the NC application. Then the officer who got my phone call said that the application is "on hold" status. What's up with that? Is it because of the pending applications of the yesteryears? Haha

I am really planning to pass my requirements to them even though i am from davao del sur :)
