i was offered a job as a military nurse. but before that i have to survive the rigorous 8 month training!

so what do you think? should i pursue it? during the 8 month long training we are not allowed to leave the camp's premises or even allowed to have contact with the outside world no cellphones no internet. I really want to take advantage of the opportunity but, 8 months without contact with your friends and family? i think its hard. as of the moment i'm still pondering, should i take it or let it go? please give me your insights. thanks

good day! i just applied at the afpmc nursing residency program and luckily i passed the qualifying exam and had my interview a week ago.. but my parents insisted that i should pursue the afp military nurse corps program.. i also have pending application on the latter and i would just like to ask when would the training start after taking the exam (which is on feb 18 in my case)? the nursing residency program will be a 6 months training and i fear that the schedule would overlap.. thank you and hoping for a reply!

Hi everyone, I would like to ask if it is true that those who have a board rating of 80 above that passed the exams and trainings are the only ones who will have a rank or will be an officer in the nurse corps, and those that have 80 below but also did passed the exams and trainings will just be an enlisted men in the nurse corps??? please I need info because I aspire to be a military nurse and I want to be just like those officers (2Lt/1Lt) who are in service.... thank you very much

@ miachee RN: uhm..as far as i know when you apply as military nurse you will be an officer automatically regardless of your board rating..

When you wanted to become an enlisted men or Candidate soldier your minimum qualification requirement is 2 year vocational course or reaching 2nd yr in college..

for officer you have to be a degree holder (regardless if your a board passer or not)

so if you applied as a Nurse corps you will be an officer because you are a degree holder...

There are some instances that degree holder apply as enlisted personnel or Candidate soldier because of the very high standard and difficulty to enter as a military officer. Then when they are in the service they apply into the Lateral entry program wherein they can become an officer just as long as they are Degree holder and they pass all the examinations. they will be trained again if they pass the lateral entry program.

There are several ways in which you can enter the service either as a Candidate Soldier/ Enlisted Personnel or an Officer

For Candidate soldier/Enlisted Personnel:

-Minimum requirement is a 2 year vocational course or reaching 2nd yr in college

-In the army i think they accept High school graduate

-It will be 6 mos of training with allowances after the training you will be a Private or Airman/ airwoman (Air force)

*There are some instances that degree holder apply as enlisted personnel or Candidate soldier because of the very high standard and difficulty to enter as a military officer. Then when they are in the service they apply into the Lateral entry program wherein they can become an officer just as long as they are Degree holder and they pass all the examinations. they will be trained again if they pass the lateral entry program.

For Officer:

1. Thru the Philippine Military Academy (4 yr course)

-Minimum Requirement: High School Graduate but College graduate can apply also as long as your not overage (up to 22 y/o you can apply) BUT you will still undergo the 4 yr course

-4 yr course with allowances after the training you will be a 2lt/ Ensign

2. Thru the Officer Candidate School of each branch of service (1 year training): Army- Army OCS, Navy- NOCC, Marines- MOCC, Air Force- PAFROPP

-Minimum Requirements: College Graduate (regardless if your a board passer or not)

-1 year training with allowances after the training you will be a 2lt/ Ensign

3. ROTC

-After Graduating from ROTC you will be a Reserve Officer then you have to be Call-to-active-duty/ CAD to be able to work in service

4. Nurse Corps (6 mos training)

- Minimum Requirement: Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Board Passer

-6 mos training with allowance after the training you will be Probationary 2lt (you have to be Call-to-active-duty/ CAD to be a Regular Officer)

5. Medical Administrative Corps, Dental Corps, Medical Corps (6 mos training)

-Dental Corps- Graduate of Dentistry and a Board Passer

Medical Corps- Graduate of Doctor of Medicine and a Board Passer

6. Lateral entry Program

-Minimum Requirement: College Graduate

-ONLY APPLIES to those who are already in the service (Candidate soldiers or Enlisted Personnel)

hope this helps^___^

may i ask what are the basic educational requirements for the medical administrative corps? my friend told me that a graduate of nursing can be entertained but in AFP website, it does not clearly state if nursing or other medical related course is a pre requirement. hoping for a reply.. :)

Hi. I'm new in this forum and I find this topic very interesting. I'm also a military nurse aspirant. Honestly, my father is a high ranked military officer, but that doesn't mean I can automatically get in without any sweat. Backer system is true, but doesn't guarantee an entry in the field. You still need to comply with the requirements and must meet the qualifications. In my case, I was supposed to take the nurse corps exam last week but I asked my dad to re-sched it for me because I was handling too much pressure from my parents. They expect a lot from me since I got a board rating of 83.20%. And my dad told me never to fail the exam because his name is on the line. Well that's too much pressure, right? I just feel sad that up to now I still don't have the courage to take the exam. I know how big and difficult a military nurse's responsibility is, but I'm willing to face that, only if there's no/less pressure around, but that's not the case right now. I need some advice... what do you think should I do? Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I have a suggestion for those who wants to join the Nurse Corps. There is another way aside from directly applying in Camp Aguinaldo to become an officer in the Nurse Corps.

This is a Reserve to Active Duty Process. Also takes a long time (1-2 years).

Be sure you are a board passer to try this suggestion.

Steps:

1. Visit your ROTC unit (Note: it doesn't matter if you did not take ROTC but rather only CWTS to apply) to inquire about applications for Reserve Officer in the Nurse Corps under Circular 4, Technical Service.

2. If you are in a vicinity near Camp Aguinaldo, you can go directly to AFPRESCOM to inquire for the requirements.

3. Comply with the requirements. Five folders for Command Clearance G2 and Five Folders as Supporting Documents. It will also cost you time and money to process the requirements. As in my case, since I'm in Mindanao, it costs me around 5-10K.

4. Submit your papers through the ROTC unit ,CDC ,or RCDG (for Phil. Army) or directly to AFPRESCOM.

5. After which, as per wired communications that there are no lapses in your papers, you may wait for a year or so to have yourself commissioned as reserve officer under Technical Service, Nurse Corps.

6. Your rank will depend on your years of service and Masteral taken. Say, 2nd Lt. is 21-24 years old and a board passer with zero exp., 1st Lt. is 25 years old with 3 years exp. with a Masteral Degree, Captain with 7 years exp and so on..

7. Afterwards you can opt to level up as a regular force active duty officer and undergo CAD trainings if you like to earn the benefits of a regular officer. (Remember: Treatment of a reserve officer is similar to a regular officer except that you don't have salaries if you're still in the reserve force)

PS: I know this post might confuse you but I hope it gives you a new insight. Queries are much appreciated.

Hello, how about applying first thru Circular 4 as reserve officer and then go through CAD. What is your insight on that?

I actually am processing thru this route right now. Have just comply all requirements last month. My papers are already under ARESCOM for review. Anyway, I am from Mindanao so am having difficulties to hurdle applications directly to Bulwagang Valdez.

@esteysi: i think ur already in the service coz u know so well in the miltary.. i will be taking the exam tomorrow, pls help me on wat to study.. i reli feel nervous coz i don't know wat to study.. pls help me.. ur reply is much appreciated..:)

if i knew back then to research and be resourceful maybe I pursue military nursing. Because of this forum I knew and update myself regarding to their qualifications.. haaays! way back dec, 2008 i took aptitude exam.. I think I passed it because of testing strategy I learned from review center and not by knowledge at all.. hehe! yeah.. why? because it was under time pressure.. have to finish it by 30 mins only. I forgot how many items for each subject but the thing that I really really never ever forgot was they shouted us ballpen's down ballpen's down but in fact 23 mins had just passed, i have my own wristwatch. they have their own stopwatch. Its my attitude to compute for how many minutes I should spend thinking for one question. So, for the 2nd subj and up to the last I knew what to do. Crap. So after the test I joked with one officer that I guess my watch and yours were different. Your timer is too fast and maybe mine is too slow.

I knew then that my vision was not 20/20 i dont want to compromise my self and my work. I dont want to lie. So i told to my self maybe its not really mine. And i am wearing eyeglasses now but I guess its not above 150 grade as I maintain it.

My question is my aptitude exam before (dec, 2008 ) is still valid? Thanks thanks thanks.

hi everyone. im just new in here and i found out that military nursing is indeed cool.. just wondering how much they are paid for their "above self" service? if u mind, just really wondering???:twocents::twocents: Peace!

Hi, I would like to ask when did you apply for the nursing corps? Because I'm just wondering why is it until now I haven't been given any schedule for examination. I applied March 2011, and yet they always tell me that there's still no schedule of exam and I just have to wait for their text, and yet I just saw your post and you have your exam last June. Actually I already lose hope, they just always tell me to wait. Sometimes I even think that "PALAKASAN SYSTEM" never run's out in our government system, and it sucks.
