Midwestern State Fall 2015

Published

Hey everyone! I've become interested in applying for MWSU for Fall 2015, but I have yet to see any threads about it so I decided to start one myself! Could anyone help me with their point system?

Hey all, @ keunnamonae and angieperry I just read a post from spring 2015 that Tiffinaiebush just posted now, that a current nursing student saying how the program is in Msu. Am so so scared now and worried. Oh this sucks, wish I applied to ut Tyler or other schools. This worries me...

Yeah I just read it as well, and I am not sure what to believe? I really want to call and ask about the issues. Or atleast talk to some people in the program already and not just one person. Because some schools aren't for certain people so that could be a factor. But i really want to know about this nclex pass rate and getting shut down

@keunnamonae ya I later thought about it and realized it's just one person we hearing this from. Not everyone can like a school. Just like in Tcc when some student say, don't take this or that professor he's too hard. I end up taking that professor and notice he isn't hard, just a lot to study and some student don't like much work and want an easy A. I would call and ask also about the issues though. This is the first time have heard this from anyone there. Heard from two people before, saying program was ok though. We would see though.

I agree I think it is a great program I just saw that on another page it makes nervous if I did start and it got closed would I have to start over or would another school accept my transfer

@tiffaniebush yes that is true about people being lazy but I do know that the MSU nclex passing rate was 75.5 in 2013 and 76.98 in 2014 so I think she is right about the program being under review. I found a document online from the TX BON and I am thinking if the 2015 class doesn't pass first with an 80% or higher on first try this year then the program will go from Full Approval to Full Approval with warning. I put the link to the document so everyone can read it themselves. The document is from January of 2015. https://www.bon.state.tx.us/pdfs/board_meetings_pdfs/2015/january/3-2-6-k.pdf

@tiffaniebush yeah that is a scary thing, but I know most nursing programs start off with the same courses so if after a year I feel I am not learning I may transfer to a different program. I think the other school would review the course and then tell you if they will accept it. I think they just may have hit a bump in the road and are trying to get it back together. All schools go through that at some point and it not just the school it is also the students. If the students are not doing their job as well then they wont pass. It seems that they have put some action into effect to get the pass rate up and that started with Spring 2015 it tells all the changes they have made in the document I provided the link for. I read mostly everything.

@keunnamonae that's true too I think it's not just the instructors part is the student. I just feel it's how much u put in the program that's what you get out of it also. You have to go out of your way, other than what the professor is just teaching and do some other studying on your own and, watch videos on topics be ahead of class, start answering nclex exam questions and all ahead of time. Also, if after one year am not learning much am transferring as well to another school, maybe it Tyler or Sam Houston. Other schools go through bumps and am sure they trying, to get back on track quickly as possible.

@lorr19 that is exactly correct. I believe that it not going to be a walk in the park you have to do the work as well. Professors can only give you so much. The document I posted shared all the plans they had to get the pass rate up and they started implementing them starting in Spring 2015. It has a lot of information of what is going on.

I think we will all be fine plus I heard that there is a weekend course after the program that is a couple hundred dollars but preps for the nclex

@keunnamonae i just read the document and say all the changes they made. I think with those changes and if the student, are actually doing their job then they should t be any problem for this year set that graduates. We should be fine though. Also I won't be relying on just what the instructor teaches when I get in, I would buy extra books to study and get more info on stuff and start answering nclex questions early. What we all put in is what we get out. Nursing school isn't meant to be easy anyways.

This really scares, any I haven't withdrawn officially from Ut tyler, I was waiting on MSU to really decide on dropping my classes. I think am going have to stick with Ut tyler. Their Nclex pass rate is high in the 90s. Oh men! We'll see...

I also believe that students play a part in this. If you do what is expected of you, how do you pass.
