ok, all Nashville and Middle TN nurses speak up! I work at Vanderbilt Dialysis Clinic.

I worked at Vandy for a year about 5 yrs ago. I worked in the Heart clinic. Cardiac nursing is my true love! I learned so much from the cardiologists there. I loved my job but there were some issues and it just wasn't worth the drive from Gallatin. :crying2: I was new to the area at the time. I work at the hospital in Gallatin now in Risk Management.

Specializes in er, pediatric er.

I did clinicals in Gallatin in the CCU. I liked it at the hospital. I am going into the Pediatric Nurse Residency Program at Vandy Children's after graduation. If I had not gotten into the program, I probably would ahve went to work for Sumner.

:balloons: Congratulations! I would love to have done something like that when I got out of school but I stayed at home in Kentucky and worked at the local hospital there. Good luck!!!!

hi everybody.....i just wanted to say that i used to work at southern hills med. center in nashville, tn. it was a great hospital about 4years ago. i was on 5west. most of the nurses there were great. i was a new grad lpn, and like i said " most " of them were outstanding. i worked there my first 10 months of nursing and only left because the commute was way too long. i lived columbia, tn. but if i were ever to move back to tn. ( i live in florida now ), i would defiantly go back to southern hills. :p

:p I am in Murfreesboro. Are you LPN's taking the IV courses yet? What are your opinions of them? I have ALOT of gripes that I was just wondering if they are only mine. Or are they just a sign of the times. If things are the same everywhere .. I may have to find another profession.

I am talking cleanliness!!! Our hospital is really nasty in places. It's GREAT on the lower floors but the upper floors are sorely neglected. Nurses statons are layered in dust. And the floors along the corners and in the room where the tile is .. NASTY! I have complained something awful. Even my patients tell me that they never se housekeeping. And whe they do .. they just empty the trash or dust the floor. I could go on and on............ :angryfire

PLEASE . ...tell me this isn't the way all our hospital's have come to!

Hello -

I work on the Cardiac/Med unit at MTMC. I love what I do and trust most the Dr.s for the most part. But tell me of your unit. I think we have really...1 really great cardiologist. the rest are ok. I really LOVE they way they treat us nurses. For the most part our Dr.s are great to work with. Course we have a few jerks but 'they're out there'! We have a 20 bed unit and monitor other floors as well.

Just curiouse about you hospital. What can you tell me. :)

Hi Tkeith, I don't know about the other hospitals in Nashville, but Southern Hills was very clean. As far as I.V. training, we had that in one or two afternoons in LPN school. The only complaint I had was we didn't get to practice but once on each other, so that didn't make me feel to confident. The student I had to stick was morbidly obese and I never found a vein(neither did my instructor). :uhoh21: My brother went to MTSU, and partied(flunked) right out of there. He used to work and party at TOOTER'S, there in murfreesboro. He loved it there, but that was like 15 years ago.

Hi TN nurses!!

Anyone from Murfreesboro?I work at the VA in Murfreesboro as a LPN.I am looking for a nurse mentor.I am 35 yrs. old. :balloons:

I work in the NICU @ vandy and love it. I came from a small hospital and was anxious at first about the size of the new children's hospital, but I have found many positives to working with 200+ nurses in my unit. I have also received excellent mentorship and the opportunity to learn new and exciting things here. Can't say enough good things about Vandy.

:monkeydance: I ALSO WORK AT MTMC AND I HAVE TO AGREE THAT IT IS VERY DUSTY AND AT TIMES I AM EMBARRASSED TO ADMIT A PT. I TRY TO CLEAN UP BUT THEN PEOPLE THINK U ARE TRYING TO MAKE THEM LOOK BAD ANY THOUGHTS

I thought that I had heard that there was going to be a new hospital built due to the rapid growth of the area. Once this is done, hopefully you'll have something to be proud of.

Kim here. I worked at Vandy and Southern Hills years ago. I now work as a life care planner and case manager from my home.

I am a native Nashvillian too, which seems to be becoming an extinct species here :) None of my neighbors are even from TN.

Hi lynnintn,

I'm am interested in the life care planning business. You said your currently work from home. I'm proud of you for starting your own business!

Would you please let me know how business is doing? I would really like to start my own business. Please give me some information on how to start. I am located in Florida.

Thanks in advance.
