I am starting an 8-week Microbiology class on May 21st. Is anyone else taking Micro this summer? I thought it would be good to start a thread for us to check in occasionally throughout the summer. It might help us stay motivated! :) I have a couple weeks to go before the class starts, but I did buy my books already and am ready to go!
I am also taking micro over the summer! I just finished my BS in Cell and Molecular Biology this past spring so I do have a big advantage going into the class (...which my professor so kindly pointed out to the entire class, after reminding us that we are all competing against each other for a spot in the nursing program). I do not think the class will be difficult since I have seen all the information before, but I can see how it would be VERY overwhelming for someone who hasn't taken science courses in a while. My best advice is to get into a study group. I know professors tell you this all the time, but it is so true!
If you need any help feel free to message me :)

I wish I had the time to get into a study group. My study time is between work and school. finish working at 2pm and have to go to class 630pm to 1030pm mon-thurs with exam being on thursday-then on those days i have to get to work for 6am.
The only positive i can see is that I am already in the nursing program and is doing this class now to get it over with in order to focus on core nursing classes.
but still, I wanted a 3-peat in the bio classes and to maintain a good gpa as my studies wont end at having a BS only.

I think that's the hardest thing about these classes - the schedule. I work from 8-5 every day and have to drive like a madwoman to get to my 5:30 class Monday-Thursday. My class ends at 8:05, and then on Monday and Wednesday I go to the gym right after class, which means I don't get home till about 10:00. Even though I really need to do some studying tonight, I seriously can't wait to just crash when I get home. And I know that things are much worse in Nursing school, but I honestly think I'll be better once I'm not working full-time anymore and can focus on school 100%.
Have my first exam in micro this afternoon - covering history of it, examples of 5 classifications of microorganisms, and basic chemistry. Hope to do well on it! How are all you others doing?sandanRNstudent
How did your first exam go? I have my second exam later today, and am pretty nervous about it. I'm hoping I'll do well! I hope everyone else is doing well so far!
I am doing well. I am in a 12 week class that runs most of the summer. Last week (week 5) we had our first test and I got a 93. I am kind of concerned that we aren't moving fast enough because most of the class sits and complains for awhile about how the teacher is too hard. So then by the time they voice their opinions and the teacher gives a rebuttal we have very little time left over for lecture! We still have 4 more tests to do in 6 weeks.
Today was my Lab Final. I am pretty confident I have an A on that one. I also got an A on my Lab midterm. So tomorrow is my lecture final exam.. I received an A- on my first test and a B+ on my second test. I need to get an A on my final tomorrow so I will be studying hard tonight. I cant wait for this class to be over!

im taking micro now and I am struggling to get a C so far. two exams and the hist ive gotten is 75. Its bothering me because Ive gotten A in both A and P classes. Granted I really don't have any time to study. I literally have 3 hours per day to study. I really want to get an A and as of right now i would have to average a 95 to do that. Problem is, I cant even drop the class because I will still have to take this class during the summer.
