Anyone taking Micro this summer? I thought we could check in with each other to see how we are doing. I like it so far. How about you?
Just to check in...I got a B on my first exam. Now that I know how the exams are, I just might be able to get an A for the rest. If not, B's are good too.
How is everyone doing? I love this class! I love my professor, he is very organized and cristal clear!!!
Good for you! My class is still going well. I have had three tests to date, and I earned "A"s on all. I am getting better at making gram stains, and I passed our environmental unknowns lab. We are starting on our comprehensive bacterial unknowns lab soon, and I am hoping I pass this lab too.
heyy guys i'm not going to be taking micro until the spring but i really need an A on all my pre-reqs to get into the nursing program i want to be in. do you have any study tips? how many hours a day do you study for the class? would it be bad if i took it online?
I study for about 1-2 hours each day, and I usually increase my study time to about 3-4 hours a day as a test grows closer. Science classes can be a little tricky to take online. It all depends on how your instructor has the course set up and on your study habits. I have read and heard horror stories about some micro instructors, so if you really need an A, it is best to do some research on any potential instructors.
Hi everyone,
I started Miro and Technical Writing online on June 1st and have to be done by August 2nd. I managed a B on the first Micro test and have done well on the online labs. I will be taking my second test before July 6th. I'm easily within range of an A in Micro and have a very strong A in Technical Writing. Overall, the class has been pretty good. I do spend 3-4 hours every day either on one class or the other. I will definitely be glad when the summer semester is over, two "normal" classes in the fall will almost seem like a relief!!
Good luck!
Hello everyone,
I have an 88% in Micro so far. I need to bump up to a 90%. Exam 2 is Monday and Practical 1 is Wednesday. Not to mention I am taking the TEAS Saturday. I hope all is well with everyone.
How is everyone doing? I love this class. This class has helped me heal my dogs ears. She kept getting yeast in her ears. The antibiotic the vet prescribed was not working, so I "changed the environment." I bought ear drying cream from Pet Smart. The yeast has gone away. It feels good to learn something and be able to apply the information.
We have an exam in two weeks, then research paper presentations, then the comprehensive final. One save is that because this class meets on Monday evenings, we've had two weeks off (Memorial day and July 5 we did not meet so the semester extends two weeks) which will give us the opportunity to be done in all other classes and devote all our time to Micro.
This class has been fascinating and has been what I think will be an excellent prep for pathophysiology this winter.
When I took Micro, I actually quite enjoyed the laboratory portion of it. But that's more likely due to my Cell and Molecular Bio professor treating it like a Micro class. If your lab portion requires you to identify mystery microbes, all I can say is *Plan ahead what you want to do* That section is easy if you actually plan your tests, as opposed to reacting to each day with nothing on your agenda.
We just took our fourth test on Thursday. I have an A in the class so far, and we have two tests and our unknowns lab left to do. We are given three bacterial unknowns, and I have two of them about narrowed down. I messed up on the gram stain I made for one, so I need to do that one over on Tuesday. The other two I should be able to identify during the next class.
