Hi All!
I peeked and didn't see a thread for those of us brave souls attempting micro this summer so I thought I would just start one! My class starts July 2nd, but I'm already getting a little freaked about it! ANYWHO! Good luck and let's all keep in touch!
hello!
after answering telephones for 7 years, i have decided to take the leap into nursing! right now i am working on my pre-reqs and i'll be able to submit an application for nursing school sometime next spring! so far i have completed medical terminology & a required cpr course. in the fall i have basic chemistry & a health careers math (i'm kinda nervous about all the math!!). in the spring i have anatomy & phys and applied micro biology. i have to plan on a 2-3 year wait to get a spot in the nursing program! i'm excited about my new adventure! so in about 4-5 years, i can finally hang up the phone and slip into some scrubs! :yelclap:
I haven't taken Micro yet (I start at the end of June) but when we were covering histology in A&P I found images of the slides online and then put them on my flash cards.....the reality is I draw terribly; so I needed to find another way of getting the information onto my flashcards :)
Peace,
Cathie
Micro was one of my not so good classes, but it was tailored towards alllied health so it made it somewhat interesting. Here are some tips you can use that might make labs easier.
If you are being graded on a pure culture, and you have a few colonies of "extra" bacteria, just scrape them off, might be considered cheating, but I wasn't going to waste 2 more dys of lab to grow another plate.
When we were being graded on slide presentation, instead of dying the bacteria with crystal violet and saphron
I start my summer semester tomorrow. 8 glorious weeks of micro and A&P. I'm kinda freaked about taking them together, but I see I'm not the only one. Good luck to all!!!Bobbi Rene'
GOOD LUCK BOBBI!
I start one of my summer classes tomorrow also, but my micro doesn't start until July 2nd. Deep breaths.... we will all survive!!!! :monkeydance:
CONGRATS!!! :balloons:Any tips for us?!?!
It helps to have a cool teacher....not one of those anal type Nazi teachers. I can't stand teachers like that(I'll drop that class in heartbeat). I study and listen better with a more laid back type teacher.
So yes, make sure you get a teacher you can work with and not just enroll in a class because you need that subject. You get the right teacher and everything will fall into place.
