Who is Taking Micro this summer? Here is a thread that we can all refer to for support. If you have any links to helpful websites please feel free to add them.
What text book is everyone using? At my school we use 'Microbiology-A Human Perspective'.
I taking the Micro as well as Human Development. My last 2 classes and I am done with all classes needed for a Bachelors except for clinicals. I am using Foundations in Microbiology by Talaro with a Prof that has a really low pass rate. Cross your fingers!!!
I am using this book also (as I prev posted). Looking through it and it does not look very exciting. Kinda reminds me of chemistry with a biology twist and alot of long names put into different categories. I hear this class is supposed to be interesting and easier than A&P....I guess we'll see. I start Monday. :uhoh21:
Hi All,
I'll be taking Microbiology during the summer too. Class starts on June 5th and will run Monday through Thursday until July 13th. I think we will be using Tortora (not sure though as I haven't started class yet). I am currently finishing up A & P 2 finals this week. I hope this summer class goes by fast and I hope I and all of you get an A in this class.
I am taking micro starting next wk, am nervous, the instructor said to expect it to keep me up half the night b/c "we are flying low and fast" whatever she means by that. i have 3 kids and a job, this is not going to be fun, it's not even required for entrance into lvn program but will give me points up on the list they choose from.
I had my first Micro lab and lecture yesterday morning. YIKES!
I really like my teacher. He was a physician for many years and seems to have a ton of knowledge to share. He speaks well and keeps you awake during lecture.
The scary part, he said "You have to study hard this summer. This class is a bear and my test are hard. Studying should come first. You have three other things you can choose to do in addition to studying; sleep, eat, or socialize. You can pick two of the three. If you want to eat and socialize and forego sleep, that is up to you."
Hey, I heard from someone that this teacher is easy. People in my class that had him before were saying he is fair and curves but his tests are very difficult. There are also a few repeaters in there. :uhoh21:
It's gonna be a fun summer!

yuggie,

yeah, i know what you mean here. i started my micro on monday/ lecture and tuesday /lab 4 hours each day 8 hours a week until end of july. at our school we were told that the instructor was sooo "easyyyy" and this class you can, if you wanted to apply yourself, get an a. well, the instructor left:uhoh3: 2 weeks b4 class started:lol2: ....soooo the instructor that taught us a&p11 is now our micro teacher :yelclap: ... i can say wonderful here because i love her so much! but, because she is teaching herself as she is teaching us it is tough on her and noone is quite sure where not sure were the us will come out. even with all the uncertainty, i am still excited, i want to learn this stuff so i can and will be a better nurse. it is just so much to cram.. so onward we will march, eat up! gl to all this semester, as we await the full course meal... nursing.....:yelclap:
