Microbiology study group spring 2009

Published

Just wanted to Start a study group for spring semester .I thought it will also be fun to give pop questions for us to make up from our classes and answer to help us learn more. Hope to hear from u guys

I would like to join your group. My first test is Thursday. We also need to find a current Associated Press Newspaper article that relates to Microbiology. I am actually having trouble finding one (and it can't be about the Salmonella Peanut one.)

Thank you, that is exactly what I need. Now I have to write a page or so in my own words.!!!

Well, I got my first test back and I got a 95% so I'm pleased. We are now doing the Chemistry of the cell. Regarding question 1, I don't think that spiral bacteria have cytoskeleton. I believe that is for Eukaryotes ie. cytoskeletons, microtubles and microfilaments. We didn't go into the other details for the other questions but good luck on your exam.

I'm much more calm now. This week we had a quiz and a test. Our teacher allows us to hand grade once we've handed in our tests. I got a 100% on the quiz and 98% on the test plus 4 extra credit points from my typed study guide. That almost makes up for the 20 points I missed by having emergency surgery the first week of class -_-.

Rod/bacillus bacteria have a cytoskeleton that is made of actin. They are the only kind of bacteria that have it I believe.

Ok I'm joining this group too! My first exam is this coming Wednesday over Micro History, Lab Tools, Prokaryotes, Microbial growth & Microbial Metabolism. 100 questions in 75 mins. Should be a doozy!

My teacher says E. coli is coccobacillus but everything I see online says bacillus????

Robin, E. coli is a short rod. It's more a bacillus than a cocci but far shorter than other more obvious bacilli out there like B. sub. Hope that helps. :p

I am terribly nervous about my first Microbiology test tomorrow. Does anyone have any good websites they study from that may be helpful?

Specializes in Pediatrics, Community Health.

Does your textbook have a supporting website where you can go online, get more info, and take practice quizzes? I usually just study from my prof's powerpoint slides and the text. But I think I may try the website that goes along with my book: www.mhhe.com/nester5 tonight because I have my second micro test tomorrow. Good luck on your first test!!! :-)

I've been using the CD that comes with our textbook and it has been a big help. There is also a supporting website, but between the book and cd, I don't have time to check anything else out! I wish I did!
