Hello. Anyone out there taking Micro this semester? I thought I would start a thread for us to talk and discuss microbiology for the semester. I am looking forward to it.

What textbook are you going to be using? I am using Microbiology: With Diseases by Taxonomy - Robert Bauman. I am picking it up tomorrow.

I think it will be a great semester! :yeah:

That's great hopefulus. It's so nice to have a great professor. I've seen a picture of mine online and I'm scared. :))

Yes I am starting tuesday Jan 4, 2010!! I am nervous but EXCITED!! Hope u do well!! what program are you going for?

How did your first class go?

I'm going for my ADN. I will hear this month when my starting date is. (lottery)

hey whats up guys im in that along with anatomy.. my book is the same as posters.. Microbiology with taxonomy.. along with Eng.. basically 3/4 of main pre req just need phys.. as core pre reqs and im applying.. so u can assume im quite nervous..i start fall on FEB 4th.. so dont worry ll be whinin a LOT

Welcome aboard. I picked up the textbook today. Looks great. We have to get an atlas too. (That's another $50 to fork over.) That will have to wait till next paycheck. :)

Specializes in Psychiatric, Med-Surg, Operating Room.

I'm taking Microbio this spring as well. I don't know who's teaching or what book we using yet. This is my last semester of pre-reqs (I'm also taking A&P II and Medical Law & Ethics).

Specializes in Quality management.

I start Micro 1/11/10 and we are using Microbiology: An Introduction by Tortora.

My school sells this book and the lab manual (by Cappucino) for about $150 but I found last year's edition for WAAAAAYYYYY cheaper so I might be using that one.

HI, I'LL BE TAKING BIO, MICROBIO AND CHEMISTRY SPRING 2010!!!

I TRUELY HOPE THE COURSES ARE NOT HARD IF SOO, I WISH US ALL LUCK LOL!!!:redpinkhe

Wow that's quite the load. I see others have a few hard ones together too. If you plan ahead I am sure you will be fine. Plus you have us to complain to. :lol2:

i'm taking this too! it's been a roller coaster ride trying to get in though. i was able to get into the lecture on first try and lab at second try. because i got my second choice for the lab, it was overlapping with my philosophy class. so i deleted the philosophy class-or so i thought. i actually deleted the lab! this all happened 20 min. after my registration time (all online). anyways, by the time i tried to get back into the class, I found out every single lab was ALREADY full. stupid budget cuts!

somehow a few weeks ago, while randomly checking for classes, i saw that there was ONE spot open in one of the micro labs and i snatched it up! it was such a relief. anyways, i'm reallly nervous! this will be my second semester in college and i start the 26th. i was able to pull off great grades my first semester and my professor has raving reviews on ratemyprofessor.com. thanks a million for all those links! good luck to everyone!!

Also taking Microbiology - class starts 1/19

Text - "Micobiology - A Systems Approach" as well.

Hello everyone. I found a few more great sites to help us along this semester.

Benjamin Cummings' Microbiology Animations: This site contains interactive flash animations. Each flash slide has a couple numbers on the top right that continue the flash animation for that topic. Enjoy!

Micro is the worst for me. I hate it. I believe due to the professor.

Gonna re take it this semester or maybe in the Summer.
