I was just wondering what the average grades for microbiology courses are? I'm curious because a bunch of people I know have retaken Micro again because of not so desirable grades. I know micro is very hard and I just wanted to see if anyone else is having a hard time getting above a 3.0 or 3.5
I was also wondering what are the average grades for ANP I and II courses are. Those classes are super hard too.
If you all don't mind sharing!
Thanks!
I am currently taking both micro and A & P 2 in the summer 5 week course! Hectic let me tell you, but I'm managing. I have made B's on both micro exams so far and got an A on my first A & P exam. I work full time and am taking 14 credits this summer so by no means is it easy, but if I can do it, anyone can! Like take this week, between my 4 classes I have 4 exams, 2 papers and 10 lab reports to do. I just study study study! Stay organized and work hard. I am striving to make all A's this summer. You can do anything you set your mind too. There are some people in our class not doing so well. We have a class statistics given out for every test, so on test one had 9 people fail, 10 make B's, and 3 A's. Test 2 had 4 people fail, 13 B's and 4 A's. It seems people are either in the A/B range or fail. Oddly enough no C's on either test. And alot of the B's like me are high B's, usually a question or 2 away from an A (our tests are only 40 questions, so one question can really hurt!) Just set your mind to it and do the best you can! Good luck!
I worked my glutes off for my A in Micro; recorded lectures, converted to MP3, burnt to bisc and listened during commutes and during my sleep.
Out of our school's 3 teachers I took the "hardest" one. The teacher loved compare and contrast questions. A very frustrating and misleading class. We would spend a lot of time on a specific topic and the teacher would say "You need to know this...it wound make a great essay question...hint...hint". Then the material would NOT be on the test; actually she would make essay questions on subjects she spent
She also told the class "I go out of my way to make sure that those who start studying the weekend before the test will fail". I'm glad that class is over!
Out of 22 people; I received the only A. Four received B's, the rest C's and below.
I HIGHLY recommend:
Hi,
I got a B in A&PI, would've had an A but my professor docked my grade because I didn't want to dissect cats. Oh well, I'll take the B for that. Out of 20 students, only 3 passed the class. I'm taking A&PII this summer w/ Edukan (mostly so I don't have to deal w/ the cat thing again, LOL). My microbiology class ends this week, right now I have a 103 average. As long as I don't majorly mess up my lab practical tomorrow then I'll end w/ an A in there. Honestly besides the English comp and sociology class, I think micro was my easiest prereq by far. Hope A&PII goes as well!!
I loved Micro so much. I had just come off from taking Botany, so Micro for me was so much easier. I admit, I'm a very bad student. I could have gotten a 4.0, but I sometimes didn't go to lecture so I missed a few quizzes, and I didn't study as hard as I could. I ended up with a 3.8 and the class average was 2.4. I also took Micro with two other lab sciences, but my grade did suffer in one of those courses, which I think is because I focused so much on Micro. I think if you fully understood a lot of the processes from Cellular Biology, some of the more difficult subjects in Micro won't be so bad. I did find the Immunology section to be the most challenging to truly understand, and got the lowest grade from that test.
Good luck everyone!
I have done well in my science classes but then again I have taken them all one at a time since I have been working full-time. I wonder at times if I will be able to handle multiple science classes. I know I can handle 4 courses at once which seems hard to me now but when I did that I wasn't working full time. Microbiology is my last class that I need for most schools, although a few of the schools I was intersed in require Organic Chemistry or Pathophysiology, so I may have a few more science classes. Some of the 2nd degree BA schools even require sociology or a religion class which I have not taken.
I got A in Micro but I still felt like I did not learn anything while in the class. The other day I took the kids to a exporation place with a health area that had pictues of the different microorganisms and I could name them before the kids read them.
Now A & P for me I had to take it twice because my first teacher had no clue what he was teaching. You could ask a question and he would say "I don't know!!" So I got a C!!! Know I took it again with the best teacher that I have ever had and got a B which for him is good.
I won't lie I am not an A student but I learn more from each class that helps me understand what I did not understand before.

I got A's in micro and A&P. mostly because I (at that time) was only taking one or two courses and was a stay-at-home mom, so could spend LOTS and LOTS of time studying. It seemed like most of the people that had more hectic schedules were in the B range. I think the ones that did worse than a B generally waited until the night before to learn the million or so bacteria.
I also had awesome instructors, which motivates me to work harder.
