I was just wondering what the average grades for microbiology courses are? I'm curious because a bunch of people I know have retaken Micro again because of not so desirable grades. I know micro is very hard and I just wanted to see if anyone else is having a hard time getting above a 3.0 or 3.5
I was also wondering what are the average grades for ANP I and II courses are. Those classes are super hard too.
If you all don't mind sharing!
Thanks!

I got an A in my micro class. I never got anything below a 94% and I worked my ass off for the grades. I loved micro and thought it was a lot of fun and easier the Physio, but I think this might be because I enjoyed the subject so much I did not mind spending a lot of time studying, plus I was also taking chemistry at the time and a lot of stuff was related. I am not sure what the other students got, but my teacher said I was one of his stop students in the class.

The class average was a 68%. There was around 30 of us in the class and I was one of only 3 A's. It is a VERY tough class IMO...I worked harder in that class than any other prereq. You have to put the study time in to succeed. Good Luck!!!

I received As in all three courses. I, like many others on here, busted my butt!
The people you know who are not making good grades are not studying very hard or are not studying at all. Don't get worried and upset because you happen to know them; use them as a resource.
Ask them what they think they did wrong. I am sure most of them will tell you that they did not study much. That is the opposite of those of us who received As. Good luck.

I got a B+ in both A&P 1&2, and an A- in micro. I found micro to be more interesting than A&P, due to the amount of hands on learning done in the lab. Whether it is a "hard" or "easy" class rests alot on how hard or easy an instructor makes it. My micro class was easy because the instructor didn't challange us at all. A&P 2 on the other hand, I learned more in, because the instructor was a great teacher. He actually wanted us to understand the material.

Hi there, my school works on A-B-C-D grading structure and I got a B in both lab and lecture. I could have obtained an A in lab but spent more time studying my lecture final because I really needed to nail it. Ended up leveling out both classes resulting in B's in both. I worked hard, but I will say, I could have worked harder.

Unlike the others, I took Micro lecture twice. I got an A in lab But a D in lecture. My class was very hard. We had almost 150 students and I dont think anyone in that class got an A. My teacher waited til the end of the semester and covered 30 chapters over pathogens in two weeks ( just M and W class) It was horrible. I studied so hard for that class. I retook the lecture with a different teacher and made an A without studying because I learned so much when I was studying for the previous Micro class. Hang in there I had problems getting my GPA up. I lot of people dont really tell the truth about thier grades all the time. Dont get caught up in what everyone is making just do your best. I got into a BSN program and I start this Fall. Just hang in there, If you have to repeat a class, OH WELL.
It will all be worth in the long run!!!!!!!!

Here is what I do. I buy the book about a month before the class starts. I read and study. I mean really study. Then I find online information via this website. By the time the course actually starts I feel that I am ahead of the game. So far it has worked. For example, I start a very hard course this fall. I will find out what book they use by August. I am going to the beach in August. I will read my book and study the entire time I lay on the beach. I know....it does not sound fun.....but I will feel better come September. This is my plan anyway.
Oh, I memorized all the bones and muscles before my a and p classes. Helped tremendously!

I got a B in A&P I, a B+ in A&P II and a C in Medical Microbiology. I found Med Micro to be hard as hell but I do think I could have studied more than I did. I will learn from my mistake because the BSN Nursing Program I got accepted to will not accept my C in Med Micro, they want a minimum of a C+.
Something to think about when you're drinking that beer with your buds when you could be home studying pathogens.....

Our class average was a high B, I believe aroun 88 or 89. I got an A in the class, I just thought it was so interesting. I took APII with micro so I was studying constantly, but I managed high A's in both. Plus we had a wonderful micro teacher that really made us dive in and really get into it.
