Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Published

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

Can someone who was accepted into the part time option please share what the class schedule is like? I'm going to be applying for Fall 2015 and would like to get an idea as to what my weeks are going to look like so I can plan out childcare and work schedule accordingly. Thanks!

If you check online(nursing website) for the courses you will be taking for the nursing program, you will be able to look them up on the registration site. You select your own times based on the class you need. Most of the part-time classes are in the evening and they also have evening clinical days. You should check back as it gets closer to the fall term to see what times are available because I heard they are never the same each term. I wish you luck

Thanks for the tip!

How many books do we really need? I am only buying the five books mentioned on the yellow paper. Fundamentals, medical dosage calculations and the other 3.

Just five. They are giving us the rest as electronic versions. All of this has been said by the school and is in the yellow book list paper they gave all of us.

Thank you so much !!!!!??

I emailed Dr Browne regarding the free ebooks thru the uCentral mobile app. She said will won't have access to the until have the add/drop date.

I am still unable to find the texts at reasonable prices. I've checked amazon and eBay, and the prices I'm seeing are more than what you guys have said you paid. For eBay purchasers, did you went into bids to get those $60 & $70 price tags. Most of the cost I see are from $85 up (especially the Brunner Med-Surg). Half-off and Cheggs are even more expensive. Please share any specific strategies, or other sites/ places that you are getting books at reasonable prices. Thanks

Maybe people have been getting them so the cheaper ones have been sold

Maddy, I think that might be the case. I'm going to buy what I can get now because they are not getting cheaper. Thanks

I think that would be best. The more you wait, the more expensive they might be

Hey everyone!

Anyone drive from Homestead to the Medical campus for the bootcamp? What time did you have to leave to get there on time? I'm not very familiar with Miami traffic.

Textbook questions: Is anyone using older editions of the books? I have the 12th edition for the med-surg text and the 5th edition for the physical exam.

If you leave at 6 am you will have no trouble getting there on time. You can then just take a nap at the parking lot. Better safe than sorry...
