Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

So I'm super late but I just bought some books! As expected, the ones at cheaper prices are all gone. I got the Fundamentals of Nursing for $59 on half.com, nursing interventions for $23 on Amazon, and I decided to get the international version of the med surge book for $65. I realized after I bought the med surge there were a few websites with a few bucks cheaper for that particular version. But anyway, fortunately I won the health assessment book in bootcamp today so I saved money on that. Now I only need the pharm math book which is currently for about $49 but I'm hoping prices go down now that the fall semester is almost over and the fall students will want to sell their books. Just wanted to share this info :) Tips for the fall 2015 class who is reading back on this: buy books early! As soon as you get the book list :)

They hand out raffle tickets when you check in and throughout the days they pick out tickets and if yours match they give you a free textbook

Yes^ :) what she said (they also gave the nursing bag, a stethoscope, and small prizes like a mug/planner) but there were like 100 people there and only a few things were given out. btw Maddy my charger for my phone broke :/ I'll text you when I buy one tomorrow lol

Did anyone get an invite to attend the JHS orientation yesterday. Apparently I recieved an email saying I was not on the list. But unfortunately I never received an email regarding orientation

Anyone attending workshop tomorrow? I'm finishing up my reading. For people who attend already, were you tested on the materials we were ask to read?

Check your emails our Pharmacology professor has sent the syllabus. I'm terrified!! 84% is a C?? This cant be real. I suck in math. I struggled just to maintain a "B" in methods to calculus.

All classes in Nursing school are:

77-84% C (to pass you need 77%)

85-93% B

94-100% A

And if you took a calculus class, this pharm class will be kindergarten stuff for you! Stop stressing!

No, you aren't tested on it. My session was suppose to play a Jeopardy game with that material (class was divided in 4) but the game didn't work so we didn't discuss it
