Miami Dade College Spring 2015 RN Program

Published

Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

Those that registered for classes before the orientation the nursing department dropped them. You will be able to register after orientation (the day of orientation). You should go directly to the registration window right after orientation to get your ideal schedule

Thank you!! Is that the second floor where there are a few windows? next to the library?

What a coincidence I am on your same situation with the varicella. I have to take a shot and wait a couple of weeks for a second titer. Where did you got your shot?

I just read on the mdc website that all documents must be uploaded by December 1. Otherwise we will be dropped from the clinical course. how can we have everything by dec 1 if we need a second titer?

Could you send me the link because I was told we had a week. That was last week

I need to wait 30 days to get the 2nd MMR vaccine, and then wait at least 15 days for the titer. I talked to the nursing department and explained my situation, and they told me that as long as everything is done and approved before January, it's fine. I'll talk to someone again tomorrow... Just in case.

if you need a second titer its ok the nursing department understands

May I ask why so many vaccines? I may be misunderstanding what is needed. I only did an antibodies back in 2009 which is the titer. Basically showing my immunity. I also know you can get booster while in the program if needed. Hepatitis B is the one one I see that requires a series of vaccines. Please clarify this for me in case I misunderstood.

The way I understand it, the titers need to be recent. They show immunity, or lack thereof, to certain "illnesses". Some people who don't have immunity to certain illnesses need to begin the round of shots. Some require boosters weeks or even months later.

By the way, I see that they approved my background check and drug screening after two weeks! Finally

You will be in. Dont worry. I should be worried bc I'm the only one here with a low gpa and I'm not. If you believe that you are going to be in you will

Let's start thinking positive.

You have to be more postive, I've been noticing your always stating you have the lowest gpa. Don't contradict yourself.

I don't know, but i guess that we can ask tomorrow.

Orientation starts in 30 min for the Fulltime Generic option. Good luck to everyone.
