Hi all!

I wanted to start a thread for all of the Spring 2015 MDC RN applicants. I finally finished all of my pre-req's, and have started studying for the NLN PAX RN exam. I am hoping this thread, like many other MDC threads of the past, can help us all to build friendships, support one another, and most importantly, help us through this difficult process. Welcome! :)

This may be random but I love school supplies and I've started looking for some. I noticed that for some reason binders are sooo pricy! I went to a few places and all of the 2" ones were minimum $6-$7! I found a pack of FOUR 2" binders for $12 at Sam's.

Just a little heads up in case you guys want to know!

Thanks for that info. I love school supplies. You can never have too many pens, markers and tons of post it notes.

For those of you who've gone to orientation, did they give you the book list? do you guys mind sharing? However, I'm not sure if they will be the same

Wow! Very pricy books! And I'm very old school in the sense that I need to have a physical textbook... That online text business is not for me. Very inconvenient to have 20 books but I think I learn best when I can touch and highlight pages

I completely agree. I love doing research before I purchase the books. Try to type each book you need into google and check out the different sites that offer it cheaper. Its time consuming but worth it. You will find legit textbook sites that u can either rent or buy from as well as Amazon and ebay. I have used several myself in the past.

Btw all of the books are the same except the bridge program doesn't have to take NUR1060, 1025C, 1141 those books are intended for the generic program

Also I was a bit curious about the two ppd considering we have to get them days apart, so I called the nursing department today they are giving students an additional week to complete health forms.

Meaning we have until orientation day to have everything completed?

I submitted all of my paperwork except for the CPR certification on Friday.... Does anyone know how long it'll take for them to approve it? I'm afraid they will give me trouble even though I've done everything correctly

Depends on what ur letter states. But mine was 7 business days after orientation. They are giving everyone a week after their orientation date. Miami Dade is not the one approving the forms its the website that is approving them..but of course they are having trouble recognizing what is acceptable and what is not. This is what happens when Miami Dade use a a third-party to verify our credentials

Do I have to get a form from MDC to do the 10 panel drug test, or should I just tell my Dr that I need one?

Just tell your doctor to give you the order for the drug test

Tell your doctor they may do it in the office or send you to the lab. I did mine this morning. Its just a urine test
