Miami Dade College Spring 2016 nursing program admission

Updated:   Published

Good morning/night to all who are reading this,

I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).

Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

Yes am debating on if I should do 2 8hr shift or 3 six hour shift

Yea, I LOL'd :D

Sucks that leisure time may not be a reality though. How much time have you had to "party" or go out during your time in the program?

The night after the HESI for each semester LOL , that was our allowed "party" time. You can have some moments to relax, but the first semester is tight, too many deadlines; it gets better later on.

I'm full time. And about the days I'm not sure. They told me they would work with my schedule.

I can do two 8 hour shifts and one 4. Or 2 10 hour shifts. I haven't decided yet.

They are pretty flexible

Pick the 2 -10 hrs shifts, when you factor traffic, getting ready, etc you waste more time in those 3 days than on just 2 long days. The extra day off will be awesome to study, do projects and rest.

Hmmm. Thank you for the tip!

Has anyone purchased their book?s? They are cheap on Amazon. I just received them in the mail and they are in a pretty good condition. I got one for 9 dollars and the only thing that was wrong with the book was the cover.

How much were they all in total

Which littmann are you using??? I've heard about the classic, lightweight, and cardiology

I use the Classic. It does its job! ? if you want to invest in a more expensive one, go for the cardiology one. But I don't think it's necessary for school for now...just get one that works and does its job. And always be prepared. Just because one day you don't use it doesn't mean that you won't need it the next time. This is one thing I learned in LPN school if anything...just be prepared. ?

Can it be any color on the stethoscope?

Mine is lavender purple. ? I don't think color matters...just make sure to not lose it or keep it out of sight!! Coz it can get stolen!

Which classic? There is classic one and two

I havent seen the clasic I being sold much anymore, go for the clasic II , they have a Clasic Lightweight that is lighter than normal, in case it gives you pain in the neck area.

Eru!!! I sent you a pm

Awesome thanks for the stethoscope tip.

Another question... Do we have to wear our white shoes all the time when we go to school. Or just for clinicals?
