Miami Dade College Spring 2016 nursing program admission

Updated:   Published

Good morning/night to all who are reading this,

I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).

Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?

Hope5 are the professors picky about the color? And does it have to be the Littman cardiology lll? Or can it be the classic?

You guys are making it so complicated it's not that I didn't read the paper but where am trying to get through is it DOES NOT matter what professor you take what schedule conflict y'all talking about.. You make it seems like we have paper A or B stamped on our foreheads IT DOES NOT matter as long as we pick Nur1025 Nur1025l Nur1025c Nur1060c Nur1142 it does not matter geshh it's not that complicated they give a stupid paper to make it easy on y'all when you can just put the course ID and search the class with the professor you want simple if you look paper A and B have same class times just with different professors so there's no way you would have schedule conflicts „

So rude obviously I have a brain to think.. Talking about some simple hesi question girl bye... For the last time it does not matter.. I'll get double the course?? What do you think cause that makes absolutely no sense.. You have ppl that's gonna be registering late because of complio do you really think they are gonna be in a sequence NO their not.. Be logical

All Littman are good, the cardiology lll is the last edition and it was a gift from my husband in my brithday I bought that expensive because I will be using it for a very long time. I dont know about the colors. The only thing that I need to do before classes is to buy my books and do my Jackson Id card

I am finishing my 3rd semester in the FT program. I recommend to learn your fundamentals good, it comes to bite your butt later on. On the 2nd semester the hardest class is Pharmacology, lots of information to memorize. Oh on that topic, dont memorize the information, try to comprehend it; except for Pharm , that one is pure memorization.

On the 3rd semester you will have an easier time, is just 1 class at a time, with the clinical to go with it. You take a class for 1 month, then the next, and so on.

4th semester is a pain , you get hard a hard class, the exit HESI to study for, and looooong clinical rotations.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the information Emu : )

Hey all,

can anyone tell me about the professors A. el Kholy, B. Glenn, and T. Salvador? I just want to know how they are as professors

Yes, there are 2 sequences with multiple times and places for the same class. For instance, I got sequence 2 because I was on the right side of the room. However, my friend on the other side (Sequence 1) had different days. When I looked up the class, both sequence 1 and 2 schedules showed up. If you used the given sequence like me, you just had to enter the already given reference numbers to your "speedy registration". Honestly they gave plenty of time for you to be compliant or ask for an extension. But like the friend from third year said, you will find out on your own! This forum is not to get mad at each other, it's to help each other

Are they strict on uniform? Can we buy extra set elsewhere that is cheaper?

Any recommendation for stethoscope brand?

Does it matter the site of clinical? Or the professor matters more?

Any other tips to survive the program would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you in advance :))))

They are not really that strict on the uniform as long as it looks the same. Buy from the store called Blue Angels across the Medical Campus parking lot, way cheaper than from school store and they embroil the logo.

I have barely used my stethoscope, I would recommend a Littman stethoscope in the 40-60 range. Your experience may vary, but we haven't really used them much so far.

Professor matters more than clinical site, a good professor can make any site better.

Tips wise is to study a bit at least each day, make good use of the website they will give you access to in the first semester, is called Evolve, you can do practice questions there. And relax, it may seem like a lot in the beginning but you will get the rhythm down the line.

Which littmann are you using??? I've heard about the classic, lightweight, and cardiology

Get the classic, is good for the price. The cardiology is more than what you need right now.

Pick a classic, the cardiology is more than what you need right now. The cardiology line is for better hearing the different heart sounds.
