Miami Dade College (MDC) Spring 2013 Gen. FT/PT& Accelerated Nursing program

Hi all,

I've just handed in my application to MDC for Spring '13.

Right now I'm overall score is 82 but I'm planning on retaking the TEAS in August to improve that.

If anyone has a book list from previous students, please send. I'd love to get cracking.

Don't focus on what anyone writes about their stats. Everyone is different and honestly they have their own criteria on how they go about choosing... don't worry!!!!!!! Do you have a plan B? I had looked into other schools just in case I wasn't accepted...

Called Baptist and they offer scholarships to students at Barry and Nova. Did you apply there? How about private schools? I know it will be more expensive but it will get you a license and on your way...

Has anyone previously been in a nursing program but is considering Miami dade? Because I am one of those students.I am a beginning nursing student and failed lecture by 2 points.So I am really thinking about applying for fall 2013.My science gpa is a 3.6

@marthaj16-I think you'll have to get your TEAS score UP. You're competing with people that have 3+ gpa and above 74 on TEAS. You have about a 72 overall score and you're competing against people with above 80 for the most part. If you get a 90 on the TEAS, that'd give you about an 82 overall which is much more competitive. You can do it- I'm not trying to bring you down but explain realistically what you're facing. If by chance you don't get in this time, work on that TEAS score.

BTW-- These books are HUGE and heavy! Am I the only one starting to buy the books? I used bookbyte.com for alot of my books. Got them used and cheap.

It's not just one shot, it's a series of 3. One, then another a month later, then another 6 mos later.

Your doctor should be able to give that to you. You could call the campus clinic and ask if they give them. Check with Minute Clinic at CVS-

Elain7 you can go to the health department it is 1350 Northwest 14th Street Miami, FL 33125 I got mine there you just have to say that you are at risk of contracting hepatitis B and you heard they gave immunizations there. they will give it to you for free! no questions asked but FYI don't mention anything about school you can't say it is for school cause if not they wont give it to you.
