Hey everyone,
I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.
I will start:
I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)
Dr. ***** spoke to us at the generic and part-time orientation at Medical campus, mentioned that she whould conduct a test-taking seminar before and after our 4-hour test (we're divided into two groups, taking the test 9-1 or 1-5). She passed around a paper to sign up for the seminar. If you did not put your name and e-mail address on that paper, you will not hear from them.Assuming there's enough space, I presume that they would let any new student attend, regardless of track or campus. You ought to call Dr. *****' office or email her for more information.
It's the chair of the generic programs (full- and part-time); her office is on Medical campus. You'll have to figure out who that is yourself.
Can someone tell me if its mandatory to get health insurance? if you do can you recommend one that is affordable?...thanks
I'm not sure that the school requires it, but I think that the facilities in which you do your clinicals will.
See this MDC Web page for more information on a plan they recommend, but don't endorse.
i tried the shirt on in the store, the pants were a guess, they fit but the are long, even the shirts are super long and they dont have a shape to them : (
I guess we'll just have to wear them like that for now and next time we know what size we should buy. I did not try them on but the reason I got a S size is because I didn't see much of a difference between XS/S so I just went for the small. Like you said they just run super long.
What about the lab coat? Were you Able to buy the right size??
I got the lab coat. It seems to fit OK. I wish I'd had it for chemistry and microbiology labs rather than the rip-prone disposable lab "coats" I used.
I'm waiting for the bookstore to get scrub tops and bottoms in more men's sizes. If the next batch is as deficient as the last one, I'm kind of hosed.
for the mdc nursing program how long are credits good for. i took anatomy etc back in 2003 are they still valid ?
On this this MDC Web page it says that A&P 1&2 + labs have to be "Completed within 10 years of program entry date," but some courses (like microbiology) that should be there are missing, so the information is probably out of date. You need to call advisement for definitive information — their Web pages are sometimes out of date.
