Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

Im going for sequence 1 as well :)

BTW, did anyone try to register for classes early and had their whole schedule dropped? I thought we got to pick our classes and sequence? i just looked at open classes and all fund classes have been removed.

Nursing Dept.told me yesterday if anyone registers early( before orientation)their classes will get dropped.

homestead students registered early. i guess i am coming with a laptop. I have to make sure I get seq. 1 because of the schedule. I can not take any afternoon classes. Lets hope that it will not fill up tomorrow. I also heard they had technical difficulties at the homestead orientation. They did not have a chance to purchase boooks because orientation. Also when they went to take the ATI tests on Monday not all the modules where up and running. I hope ours goes smoothely.Looking forward to meeting everyone.

anyone hoping for sequence 3? i know thats what im looking for tomorrow. i want to be able to work at least part-time 2 days/nights a week, anyways im off to sleep see you guys tomorrow =)

I'm a Homestead person, and many of us were able to register early. Of course, some of our classes have only one section. The 2 where we have a choice, it's basically 2 options Wed and 2 Thursday. Nothing like what Med Campus offers. Also, yes, our orientation was held Friday, and the bkstore closes at 1, so we were not really able to get there to purchase books. Many of us have found them cheaper on other sites, to include amazon and barnes & noble. I did go up to medical yesterday for the Fundamentals book, and m uniform, as those I can't get elsewhere (well, not the tops anyway). Good luck at orientation everyone!

For those that haven't purchased yet-- the scrub tops I got were $27.50 and $31 (guess the white is different price than the green), and the pants are $20. This was all at med campus bookstore.

these scrubs are so expensive compared to all the ones on UA or Allheart.com? sucks we can just buy a white top, green top, and green pants from other websites.....its wayyyyy cheaper the pants you can get for 10 bucks and tops for 10 bucks or less, and some are really nice....oh well....

it was great meeting you guys/ladies @ orientation. i feel much better about this whole process, especially with the ATI support to be able to take pretests before the graded ones. anyways who has sequence 3, my clinical is at ponce.

Guys, I don't really see much difference on the book prices online and at the bookstore. Which books do you think are not worth buying? Are you buying the Test Success book???

I ended up buying most of the books at the bookstore because i got used ones. The only book I could not buy used was

the NUR1142 books, which are the drug guide for nurses and the medical dosage calculations. Did anyone find it for

less on line? if yes where? btw, my used books are like brand new. I am not sure if they needed to use them in their class

or they just never needed to study. Oh and I chose sequence 1. anyone else?

Marc, it was great meeting you as well. I hope I entertained you during the boring orientation:)

I got half of the books for 100 on craigslist deals are out there u just have to look and they were all current editions. I've saved 200 so far

I ended up saving over $160 buying new ones from amazon and barnes & noble. The only one I purchased at the bookstore was Fundamentals because I was interested in the digital copy. There are good deals out there if you're willing to look for them. You can get the ISBN from the efollett site and compare for yourself.
