Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

It was 1000 applications for part-time and full-time together. She didn't tell me how many applications were specifically for part time. I was planning on asking her that but forgot.

Hi @ngel! Thanks for the information. Did the person you spoke to say that orientation was the week of the 18th? I wonder if there will be more than one orientation. I AM FREAKING OUT!! This waiting and the anxiety is killing me.

Have any heard anything about the LPN program. I have a friend that applied for the PN program for the fall term at the miami dade medical campus. When should she expect to get an email? Thanks.

Hello everyone!

Just came back from the medical campus. They said we should be receiving notifications from June 13 to June 18. Basically, we just need to hang in there for another week!

We are going to have just 1 week to respond so everybody please check your email (they suggested 3 times a day). They said the background check and the medical records as well as CPR certification will be required by orientation, which will be around mid July, so, making the appointments in advance wouldnt hurt.

I just want to wish you all good luck. Cant wait to meet you all :)

Part time, full time, and the other programs have different orientations. Orientations start around mid-July.

Thanks for the updates everyone!!

It seems that we're actually getting closer!!! So exciting!!!

The anticipation is excruciating!! LOL I keep thinking "just a couple more days", I keep chanting that in my head to keep me sane!! LOL :0P

Hi, Do you know how they calculate the GPA ? Im going to apply but idk if they look at the overall GPA or just courses required for nursing like broward college. Need help thanks!

Quick question for anyone:I know a requirement for the nursing program if you are accepted is the completion of a CPR class.....Does MDC offer a class for CPR??Or where would you recommend getting certified? Thanks!

Science GPA (chemistry + lab, A&P 1&2 + labs, microbiology) count for 40%. Your TEAS V score counts for 60%.

Multiply your science GPA by 10, and add that to your TEAS V score multiplied by 0.6. That is your "quality" score. That weighted score is how applicants are ranked. From my understanding, there is not a huge range of scores for those who are admitted; the difference between the second-to-last and the last in is small.

From talking to a senior-level person in the advisement office, it appears that you're pretty safe with a quality score of 88, but in reality the cutoff was well below that last time.
