Miami Dade College Fall 2015 RN Program

Published

Hey guys,

I figured I should share what I know about the Fall 2015 application so far.

So far this is what I know:

  1. Spring 2015 students do not need an entrance exam - let's see if they keep it this way for Fall 2015 applicants
  2. There will be a mandatory SOS Pre Nursing Bootcamp that will need to be attended upon acceptance to the program.
  3. I called advising today (7/7/14) the receptionist said I should start applying in January, but I'll confirm that once again before then.
  4. 60% sciences and 40% cumulative GPA is still the criteria as far as we know.

I figured this should be a great place for us to share our anxiety about our apps and build some friendships :).

did you apply for this term???

did you apply for this term???

Yes for transitional

I applied for generic full time.... I'm really anxious by now.

I'm also applying for the part-time, so I can work while I go to school. I plan to apply to the part-time, full-time and AO so I can cover all the bases but ideally, I want to do the part-time program.

Have you spoken to anyone who has done it? I'm so curious to hear about the part-time program but all I've been reading about online are experience of people who went full-time.

P.S. This was the only part-time program I could find in South Florida. Do you know of any others?

@aperez043 I meant to reply to your post but apparently I don't know how to do that quite yet :)

Hello everyone. Sorry for the extensive post.

I am new to following this thread, but I was part of the Spring 2015 thread. I had applied for MDC Spring, but I was not accepted into that term. So I am applying again, but for Full-Time and Part-Time and also to NOVA. I hope this time around I do get accepted because all the anxiety and stress is really no fun. I went in January to fill out my application and the Assistant Director of the advisement department in Medical Campus told me they begin sending out acceptance letters (via email) sometime beginning in May.

This part is the worst, to see some people getting accepted and others not makes everything a thousand times worse. Emails began going out for Spring around noon so I imagine it will be the same. Also, I was told there would be NO Entrance Exam but you will be required to do the Bootcamp. The competition at MDC is high and extremely competitive. I have a 3.61 overall GPA and a 3.41 in just Sciences just to have an idea of how competitive it is. The way it works is they start with the 4.0, they send out those letters and go from there. If there is space open once the first batch meets the deadline then they start moving down. If I am not mistaken, I think they did three batches for Spring before I got my rejection letter.

Best Luck to ALL!!! Do well in all your classes, the sacrifice pays off clearly.

I went to talk to a counselor there but the program is expensive is 60 thousand and you have to take the TEAS exam too

I will take the TEAS on Thursday.... Why don't you try to take the Teas. My advisor from Kaiser told me that there is space to start in May.
