Miami Dade College Fall 2015 RN Program

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hey guys,

I figured I should share what I know about the Fall 2015 application so far.

So far this is what I know:

  1. Spring 2015 students do not need an entrance exam - let's see if they keep it this way for Fall 2015 applicants
  2. There will be a mandatory SOS Pre Nursing Bootcamp that will need to be attended upon acceptance to the program.
  3. I called advising today (7/7/14) the receptionist said I should start applying in January, but I'll confirm that once again before then.
  4. 60% sciences and 40% cumulative GPA is still the criteria as far as we know.

I figured this should be a great place for us to share our anxiety about our apps and build some friendships :).

I have not gotten mine yet. Some people says it is not mandatory but I don't think so. I have to get also hepatitis this week. Do you know when are we suppose to buy the uniforms.

Hey I'm currently in the same boat as you now. I got accepted to the spring 2016 program but I'm worried because it turns out that I'm not immune to hepatitis B and that's the one with 3 doses that have to be taken a month apart, were you able to register for your classes after your orientation?

Hey there!

I feel out of the loop, I got accepted into the AO early october for the Spring program, but I see all this talk about choosing classes and books and etc., my orientation is on the 20th of November, did you guys have your orientations earlier?

Specializes in Public Health Nurse.

Not sure that we are allowed to post such things as names of professors on this board. Perhaps, you can try ratemyprofessor. Hope it helps.

Hello guys!!! I am currently in my second semester in the generic program at homestead. We are really scare with the pharmacology class with Irma Garriga if any of you can help us with some advice it will be great (how to study, what to study, anything!!) she is not a bad teacher is just that her way of teaching is really boring, I've reading everything self-teaching myself because I jus don't understand her class and i know that many of my classmates are in the same boat with me. thank you guys

I just applied for the transition online program for fall '16. Was wondering if you could give some input or advice. Any bit of info is helpful, thank you.

Jbone what would u like to know j am in transition face to face

Hi Aug2015, i need your help, i applied for the nursing program this fall and if I get accepted into the program probably I will be missing the orientation because according to previous years it is in the first or second week of July and I will be out of the country for two week on that date, I see on this post that you also had vacation planned , were you able to miss the orientation without problems or there is no way to miss it, I will appreciate your feedback. Thanks

Is the mandatory orientation on July 6 and 7 actually mandatory? Do they make exceptions? I am on vacation across the country that week. Has anyone heard of anyone being able to miss it? I will fly back and miss a portion of my vacation if I need to but the flights are really expensive.

Hey lilcubanrican, how's the program going for you? I'm actually still waiting for my acceptance email, I have a 3.8 gpa and 93 HESI, so I should be ok. Are you an LPN or Medic and has anything really caught you off guard or has the material been more complicated than you expected? How have clinicals been? Thank you for your help and I'm sure I'll be coming back to you as I get closer to beginning the program.

agh92 Have you received any response or answer to your question? I too have a planned vacation where I will not be around until July 14th.

Hello are you applying for bridge? If yes I can tell you to start reading fluid and electrolytes and ABG's because midterm is all about that and is a big percentage of your grade. If I have any questions email me [email protected]
