Hi, I was wondering if anyone has applied to the MGHIHP new accelerated BSN program? If so, what do you think your chances are of being accepted?

Many thx! I do not think you are a strange applicant. Schools do like diversity but I don't think your background or age should ever prevent you from doing anything you want in life! I see many 20 year olds that are far lazier than 60 year olds so follow your heart and don't ever feel it is too late to study or pursue any goal!! I wasn't always this optimistic and I didn't have the best GPA in undergrad. However, studying psych helped my confidence and GPA!! And speaking to many positive people has reinforced my inner drive and motivation! I think nursing schools are quite competitive but we will all get there!!! I love hearing about career changers. Imagine if everyone just stayed in their career forever, even if they hated it or weren't passionate about it???!!!

I am one of the, apparently, 360 applicants on MGH's accelerated BSN waiting list.
There are 360 applicants on their waiting list??!! Wow, how did you find that out?

I was actually just joking. There were 400 applicants. They accepted 40. Nobody's owning up to receiving a rejection letter so I figure they just tossed everyone else on the Mother of All Waiting Lists. At least I'm in good company!

Another student in my pre-req school has been phoning them. He's on the waiting list, too, and evidently is more hopeful than I. He said they informed him that they were going to advise all the waiting list folks of their final status in early April.

:chuckle That's very funny!

Well, I can attest that some people were not put on the mother of all wait lists. (I'm one of them.)

I'm glad that your friend has been able to make contact with someone willing to share information with him about his status and their process. The few attempts I made to get information from their staff were ignored. Of all the programs I've looked at, I've found MGHIHP's staff to be the least helpful (to the point of rudeness, actually) and most secretive. In that regard, anyway, the newness of the program definitely shows.

wow cwh646! Where else did you apply? I am sorry to hear MGHIHP was rude. Do you have any specific examples you'd like to share of how they were secretive? Maybe someone on this forum can answer for you! Either way, I'd love to hear more feedback. What is your top choice? I am interested in Direct Entry programs but we are both going for nursing. Good Luck!! :-) It's not the school that will matter in the end, but your work ethic anyways, right??

I sent you a PM.

Hello everyone! I love these forums..they keep us so informed!

My first question goes to the accepted students of MGH Institute....Congrats on getting in! I want to know the basic student profile for the people who go accepted..such as GPA, recommendation letters(who wrote them for you),etc. I would LOVE it if someone didn't mind sharing it with me so I have an idea of what to do when I apply.

My second question if for all the people applying to MGH that are on the same boat as I am....what other schools are you guys applying for and how much coursework have you gotten done? I would also love to hear any other stories!

Has anyone received a financial aid package from MGH?

anyway, of all absn programs i've been looking at, mghip has caught my attention the most.

do you know how many students they're accepting for may 2010 and what they're looking for in a prospective student??

Last year they admitted 40 out of 400 applicants. I had just under a 3.9 on my pre-reqs, and 2.9 on a difficult undergraduate major. I wasn't accepted.
